I have owned 2 Kahr 45s; a P45 and a PM45. Both were very good carry guns, but ammo that I thought would work and had fired and did work when I shot each I found to function unreliably in both. Last time at the range I did more tap and rack than I did shooting. I keep my guns OCD clean and lubed and clean at least weekly with daily wipes and inspection. Because I carry CCW legally I carry every day and I have to have confidence that my carry gun will go bang when its supposed to. Sadly to say, I never had that confidence with either of the 45s. Given that, I traded them both in; one for a M&P 45 and the other for a M&P 40c. They both are insensitive to ammo and will function with everything that I feed them. I would rather carry a Kahr, but I will carry something that I can rely upon so that leaves out Kahr. Possibly Kahr should have stayed with the 9s and 40s instead of making the smallest 45s. A P9 that I owned and traded toward a P45 worked with everything and never gagged on any ammo that I fed it.

My P45 feeds everything I give it and asks for more. I keep it stoked with hollow points so large you can come in out of the rain with them. Never had an issue with any of my guns feeding anything.

I understand completely. Once a carry gun misbehaves at the range, it's in the doghouse until I am absolutely sure I've found and solved the problem, whether it's the gun's fault or mine.

Haven't owned any Kahr 45s, but I've got a Glock 36 I carry in the winter. Have been giving the CW45 some serious thought, but it's hard to change when you've got one that's been flawless.

Carry a PM9 80% of the time and it's solid. But I wouldn't hesitate a second to bench it if it ever acts up. I've got 3 others I'm 100% confident in. You did the best thing and just moved on. Sometimes it's the gun, sometimes it's the shooter. But it doesn't matter. If you've got to change your shooting techniques to make one gun reliable, the hell with it....

I've had a PM9 that has been flawless for several years. I recently bought a PM40 to go along with it. I fired a few hundred rounds through the 40 with mixed results. I took my concerns to Kahr and they retrieved the pistol for service. Their customer service was excellent. Subsequent to the service in which the feed ramp was polished, the recoil spring replaced and the slide stop spring replaced I went to the range and shot one hundred rounds of FMJ without a hiccup. Then I tried some of my HP carry ammo and experienced malfunctions in at least every second or third round. I tried another brand and weight of HP which resulted in more of the same malfunctions. This was going to be my new off duty / backup weapon, however due to its extremely poor performance I'll be sticking with the weapons I trust, the PM9 and my Glock 27, to fill those needs for now. The PM40 will either be sold or traded.
