I haven't been able to find a PM45 locally to handle. I am curious to know if you can get three fingers on the grip or is your pinky hanging off and under the mag?

I have a small to medium sized hand. My little finger is about half on the mag. It would depend on the size of your hand. From the bottom of the trigger guard to the bottom of the mag. is about 2 1/4 inches.

the very bottom of my pinky is level with the bottom of the mag plate(at least before I sold it...I miss that pistol). I don't have very big hands though.

With the plastic-based magazine, my hand fits perfectly, but without the magazine, my pinky is half on the the grip, so a flush fit wouldn't be bad if the leading edge of the floor plate didn't protrude and make my little finger uncomfortable or pinch it.
With the .45, I appreciate a full grip, but with the bike tube, it feels secure enough with the magazine removed.
My hands aren't real big, either. I would like to try a flush plate, too... AND 6 rounds! It can be done because I've stuffed 6 into the regular 5-shot magazine by just using a minimal metal follower. I think a slightly convex... pooching outward/downward... metal base and lock would make the 6 founds fit better.

My pinky rest on the tab at the bottom of the mag. In other words, no dangle with the factory mag. It's almost exactly the same as my CW9, which means I can shoot both comfortably. Now if I could only get one inch groups at 15 yards - oh well.

Thanks for all the replies guys. That 2 1/4" dimension is the same as my K9 and my hand fits on there fine. Though, without the plastic mag base my pinky would likely slide off the grip. The next question I would ask of you PM45 owners is how is the recoil compared to a K9?

Where are you getting that minimal metal follower?

I've only had a couple to try... one a S&W follower on a magazine that broke. It works but doesn't lock the slide back. Another off a used Brolin Arms mag that I bought for $10 in the bargain bin at the gun store/range I frequent.
I used the Kahr 5-shot tube, base, and lock with the S&W spring. I crammed 6 rounds into the mag and cycled them through the gun, but didn't try firing it. I think I could use my DLT to make the S&W base plate fit the Kahr tube and give a tiny bit more space, as well as a flush-fitting base... with quite a bit of luck and "Dremel" work. This follower doesn't hold the slide open on empty, though... something I would want for CCW.
I also tried the Brolin Arms follower in the same way and got six in that setup. It would even hold the slide open, but that follower is very minimal and easily comes out of the Kahr tube... possibly made for a welded base type magazine, though this particular mag had a plastic base.
I'll try to find my pictures of that.
There are many followers available as parts for $5 or more + shipping, but I haven't ordered any to try.

#4 looks similar and #5 is the Pachmayr available at Midway for $5 or $6 + shipping, I think.
Those last two are made for welded-base magazines and would require altering the Kahr spring to help retain the follower in the magazine.
The Kahr follwoer has a lot of plastic that takes up space and a bit with the lock and base, too.
The BA mag held the slide open on empty magazine... most of the time.
I liked the S&W follower the best, but I couldn't modify it to lock the slide open. The part of the follower that would do that just isn't there and I couldn't add to it with anything I have on hand.

The S&W base could work with modifications... removing and rounding it so the Kahr tube could slide in to be flush with the rear. Then the front could be trimmed or shaped as needed. The Kahr tube could be modified as the S&W is to use the bottom end of the spring as the base lock.
I had time on my hands and played with this for a while, but got tired of fooling with it with my limited tools and skills for working metal.

Hey Wyntrout, Thanks for the quick replies to my question about the thin metal mag follower. I am a new kahr owner with my recent purchase of a blackened K9 and REALLY like the design and concealability. I've got 300 rounds thru it in the last two weeks without a single issue. Lately, I've been exploring the PM45 some as well as thinking about doing a TP45 covert. At the end of the day though, a PM45 gets me there faster. An extra round who be great if a simple way to get it could be found. Seems you've been working on the same problem. When I spring for a PM45, I'll be seriously looking for that extra round too.
