  • Used PM9

Hey guys. I have mentioned that I'm in the market for a PM9. My LGS has a used one [w/warranty card] that looks to be in good shape with both mags and the box and paperwork for $499. The new ones w/o night sights are $599 - with NS's $699. The serial # on the used one puts the build date in late 2007. Is a three year old PM9 in good shape worth within $100 of a new one? What do you think?

I'd say absolutely. For $100 savings you can find yourself a nice holster. I can't remember the date on mine but it's older than 3 yrs and it's run like a top since I've had it. That's a fine little weapon. The perfect 9mm for concealment.

any chance of tresting it out before buying. a 3 year old PM9 is as updated as what u see now. Mine is about 4 years old and I see no changes... I betif you offer them $450 they will take it..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Nope, no chance of testing it, and I know from several years of experience that they won't come down a penny. They usually have good prices, but they have no flexibility. I've probably bought 18-20 guns there, and they came down exactly once. Actually $599 is a good price on a new one. Even Bud's is higher.

I bought a 3-year-old PM9 with everything that came with it new and it looked like new, but there's no warranty on a used one and without testing it, it's caveat emptor. I lucked out and maybe you will, too, but some guns are sold because they had problems... but sometimes it's the shooter who has problems... couldn't adjust to the DAO, etc.
See if they'll give you a warranty period of a month or something if they wont come down $50.
Oh, and on the warranty card... maybe it hasn't been back, but three years after it was made, it would seem suspicious to be sending the card in. I never mentioned, let alone sent in the warranty cards. They can tell by the serial number, of course, how old it is.

I only mentioned the warranty card, because, if the pistol has never been back, Kahr has no idea who had the pistol for the last three years. I wasn't planning on sending in a three year old card.

They did repair my PM45 [non functional] under warranty and even paid shipping both ways after I told them it was used, but that was back when Ian was there. I hear that things have gotten worse since he left.

                Don't forget about online registration

Don't forget too that one can register their Kahr online via the web and not turn in the card. Just because the used one has the card with it doesn't mean the it hasn't been registered to Kahr by the previous owner. I wonder if you can take down the serial number and check with Kahr to see if it's registered? Probably not if I had to guess.

I think if the used price is 83% of the new price I would consider paying the extra for the new one. Who knows where it's been. The difference between 100 and 200 would seem a lot bigger relatively speaking than the difference between 500 and 600.

I'm inclined to agree, but I'm still thinking about it.

Thanks. Decent price, but the only thing in the package that would benefit me is the NS's, and I'm not that big on them. Plus, I've never dealt with an online auction, and I'm not real comfortable with that. It's a used gun and there's still the warranty issue.

Thanks again kahrseye. Still got 6 days to run, and it's likely to go up. Wonder why he's only shot 50 rounds in 4 years.

I just bought a NIB PM9 on GB for 539 + 25 shipping + 30 FFL transfer fee for a total of 594. I'll have it tomorrow. Same gun at my LGS is 750 + 8.25% sales tax. I saved 200+ bucks even after paying for shipping and transfer fees. And then they wonder why we buy stuff online.
