  • Elite Trigger system?

I have a PM9 and have read somewhere online that it is possible to drop in the so-called Elite trigger system to reduce a lot of the take up on the stock trigger and action.

If anyone with first hand knowledge of this, please do respond and and include conclusion if it is worth installing or not.

    Thx.

I believe your PM9 allready has the elite trigger in it.

swampman is right, u have kahrs best trigger system in ur PM9. to shorten the trigger pull is making the gun which as u know has no external safety system other than kahrs long by design trigger system a dangerous gun. It is that way by kahrs design, if u require a gun with a shorter trigger pull, there are lots of guns out there that will fit that bill..

It is only 3/8" trigger pull on ur PM9..

Didn't Kahr start putting the Elite trigger in all their pistols, except (maybe...not sure) for the "budget" CW offerings, quite a while back?

K9 stillhas the nypd trigger. the budget cw series has the elite trigger in it. quality wise there is zero difference ihn the two, just the nypd trigger has 1/8" more trigger travel, trigger poundage on either is the same.

Thanks for the info, Jocko! I'd like to get an all steel "full size" Kahr one day, so I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever run across a K9. Does Kahr offer K9s with the Elite trigger straight from the factory? Seems like the NYPD trigger would be a "special order" thing since most "regular carrying" people wouldn't want a longer trigger on a trigger system that is already pretty long in the pull...

I've also wondered why the K9, gets the "odd" trigger as standard. It makes no sense to me. IMHO, the NYPD trigger should be the option, not the standard. I can't believe it's a cost factor.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

Well, the K9 was Kahr's first pistol, right? Kahr is in MA and right next door to NY, so maybe they got a huge NYPD contract/order up front for back up/off duty carry or something when they first came out...

I have a PM9 with the elite trigger and a K9 with the NYPD trigger and I actually can't tell any difference. NO doubt the NYPD have to do things different than any other LEO to. take the glocks, . glock had to make a nypd trigger for their glocks .Their reasoning behind their wanting alittle longer trigger pull was that when the NYPD went to the glocks that was a transition from going to a wheel gun to a semi and they wanted their offiers to have basically the same triger length as their wheel guns did, within limits. Glocks did what they asked for the glock contract in NY was over 40,000 guns, and glock would have painted them ***** pink has NY wanted them that way.

It really is not a substandard trigger as some think, or why would nypd want it. It was an approved off duty back up carry gun by the NYPD. All their back up guns have to be approved and the K9 was and still is kahrs bread and butter all steel version today. 9 out of 10 made and sold have the NYPD trigger in them but on special order a dealer can specify the elite trigger. My bet is that most gun stores don't even know the difference between the two and if u ask my bet is that they will tell you, oh yes they all have the "new" trigger in them.

I guess if I was buying a new K9 and they were the same price and the elite model was avaialble, I would buy it for no reason other than to say it has the elite trigger in it, but I sure would not spend the extra bucks to send in my K9 to get the elite trigger in it. I shoot my K9 far better than myPM9, course steel trumps polymer in that great "gun" feel.

I guess it is all what one gets used to. No doubt there are some NYPD SHOOTERS who have the K9 that make that gun walk the walk and talk the talk.
I personally think the K9 is the best made all steel gun on the market, bar none, simpler made than any all steel version that is for sure...

Hmmm... I'll have to disagree with ya there when it comes to the 1911 platform.

at all, basically one or two pars in difference design(I have been told it is basically the trigger inside and where the hole is drilled to accept the trigger bar, which will change the trigger travel.. but quality wise the same. To me just goes to show that 90% don't even know the difference between the two. One has to be IMO a pretty good shooter with a good touch of feel to actually tell a 1/8" difference.

I would suspect that yet today the K9 is a big seller with the nypd people.

I'm pretty sure the NYPD removed Kahrs from its approved back up/off duty carry list due to reliability issues...
