  • Iwb ?

    Hi all,

This is my first time that I will be CC and looking my for an IWB type holster for the PM9, previous was a 1911 style and wore it on belt.
My thinking is that synthetic (any plastic) is not too good in hot weather and makes you perspire, leather absorbs sweat and not good for the pistol (aluminum oxidizes if you get scratches from use). I typically carry in a 11:00 position and left-handed (first problem ). I read a few posts but not clear regarding ideal materials and beliefs.

    Any thoughts, thanks E

PS: If this has been covered please give me the link and my apologies

Enrico, my preference for an IWB holster for the PM9 is the Comp-Tac C-TAC. I wear it all the time, in all seasons, and have not had any issues with the kydex holster body. It is very adjustable, and I often wear it tucked in for work using the velcro clips. With the v-clips, the holster & gun are virtually undetectable.

This is the C-TAC that I used to carry an MK9 in; now a PM9 rides in it:

The PM9 should stand up well to summer carry - the polymer frame won't corrode, and the stainless slide (even without the DLC) should hold up well (my MK9 was carried IWB against bare skin for years in the summer with no ill effects).

If you are going to carry at the 11:00 position, you will probably be best served by a holster made for appendix carry. That is a relatively recent 'fad' in concealed carry, so you may have issues finding holsters for that. My advice would be to order a holster from someone who has a money-back guarantee, so you can always send it back if it does not work out for you.

    FYI, here's a blog posting of a person appendix-carrying a PM9: http://hiddendefense.blogspot.com/20...-appendix.html

I upgraded from a C-TAC to the M-TAC. Makes carrying my PM40 easy and the velcro clips are pretty tough to detect.

Hi Guys, thanks for your replies and on the money tips! Yep that clip from hidden defence does it. I am a very handy guy and Imight give it a try to mold my own for kicks and play around. The Cross Breed and TAC's are a great start!

            Cheers,
            Enrico

I am another fan of Comp-Tac's products Enrico. I just ordered the holster body to attach to an MTAC I already have. The MTAC currenly has a Ket-Tec P11 body attached.

Another holster I can highly recommend is the Milt Sparks Versa Max. Mine is in horsehide and it is superb. Holds the gun securely, conceals very well and is comfortable.

Milt Sparks looks like high quality stuff, thanks for the lead.

One more burning question, I was carrying a CZ-SP01 that had a 19 round mag. With a 6 round mag do you carry an extra mag in your pocket and if you don't do you have a mag holster similar to "dirksterg30" showed on this thread?

Again, thanks for your input, E

I do. You'll just want to double check your pockets at night and make sure a cartridge didn't pop out of the mag.

I carry an extra magazine in a Comp-Tac Kydex pouch on my belt. That way I always know where it is and I won't lose it in the fuzz, lint, banana peels, dog hair and feathers that live in my pockets.

A disadvantage I have found with magazines for a G26 is that if I carry high capacity magazines, the pouches are built to only accomodate the standar size ten rounder and the longer magazines tend to lean forward. I even called Comp-Tac and asked about the magazine holders for the G17 and G19 models and those holders are of the same size as those offered for the G26. I guess 9mm = 9mm, regardless of capacity. I'm sure there is an answer to this issue... I just have not expended the brain matter yet to figure it out.

My favorite, uber thin IWB carry hlster. Simple, inexpensive and works perfect.

..... I carry a small gun to compensate for my huge pecker.
