Anyone interested in GAP floorplates for the PM9?

GAP Industries, makers of the abbreviated magazine floorplates for subcompact Glocks, is working on a version for the Smith & Wesson M&P Compact. I inquired about them making one for Kahr pistols. Their reply was that they are considering it, but they do not get that many requests for it. Personally, I think it would be a great idea.

How is that different than Kahr's polymer floor plate kit gor the PM9/PM40?

Not interested at all.
In fact I just removed the pinky protrusion baseplates from my H&K P2000Sk magazines and replaced them all with flat smooth front baseplates.
There's no way I'd want those things on my PM9.

The difference is the GAP plates extension protrudes a bit more, but other then that, really isn't much difference.

Personally I'd rather see someone come out with true flush fit mags for the entire PM series (9/40/45)

These are a great product for compact weapons.I think they would be great for a PM or MK series Kahr.
They don't make the grip longer ,they make it better as the extension locks your hand in place.Hard to explain but if you get a chance to handle a gun with them you will understand.

I wouldn't call "pinky potrusion" the same thing as "exact same style floor plates" but if you do thats great.

I had to find a picture of one to see that they do look similar.It looks like the H&K ones add some length as well.

Mudfish, is that your PM40 with the polymer base plate? Looks great, ... did you have to mill the base plate to fit it?

I'd like to see a far better solution for the 7-round magazine that protrudes out of the PM9. It's got the black plastic wrap-around that looks like a Roman chariot, and severely pinches the finger when it fires.

Rondo, it took very little work to get the polymer mag base kit to fit, like 5 minutes with just a piece of sandpaper. EASY! Here's the thread with pics from last week, there wasn't much interest...

The GAP plates are a great addition to the G26,until you use them you really don't know how good it is.As for the H&K SK2000 I would have removed them too,it was too small for a whole 3 fingers and too big for 2 ,with your pinky under it.I have since sold the G26 and G36 and got the CW45.

What didn't you like about them?

They are about as close to being the same product as two products can be.
The problem with the extension is that it adds torque at the bottom of the grip during recoil which will slow down your aimed follow up shot times due to inconsistent sight tracking.
With the extension my A zone splits at 7 yards are in the .25 sec. range, without the extensions I'm in the .17 range.
That's the difference between 4 shots per second on target and 5-6 shots per second.

I would like to wait and try one on my M&P compact before telling them to make one for my PM40. I like the Idea though.
