  • Sig P239 for PM45 - Trade?

I have a 7-8 year old DA/SA Sig P239 in .40 cal with fairly low round count (less than 1000 probably and in very presentably condition) that I no longer carry, and hardly ever take out of the safe. Today, while picking up some things from a local shop, the shop owner mentioned that one of his regular customers was thinking of selling his fairly new PM45 to get a larger capacity gun. I had asked the dealer to help me track down a CM9 and had described it as the "lesser expensive" brother to the PM9 when the bell rang in his head about having ordered the PM45 for the other guy. I said I may be interested in a trade if the other guy is interested, so there may, or may not be a possible trade in the works.

Dollar wise, I'm sure a straight up trade would be in my favor, but I would also toss in a couple of nice holsters made locally for the Sig. Quality wise, the Sig is top shelf, so it would be a quality for quality trade anyway.

    Fair trade?

I was looking to trade my P239 9mm for a Kahr PM9. Value wise, I'd say you're in a similiar ball park. It all really depends on what someone is looking for.

If they're both stock, I think it's a pretty fair trade.

After looking at the specs to compare the PM45 to my current CW9, and my desired CM9 (which I am not going to wait all spring and summer for), the PM45 really isn't going to be much more "boot friendly" than my CW9. It may be a couple tenths inch shorter, but a tenth thicker in the slide, and the grip length almost identical to the CW9. Granted, the flat base plate would be a nice "change" for "boot carry", but marginal improvement at best. I don't really "need" another .45 for the sake of adding a caliber to the stable (Kimber Compact Stainless handles that well), I do need a more compact carry gun as I rid myself of all micro .380's a couple of years ago.

Even though I would love to have the PM45 in a straight up trade, I don't think it would fit my current "needs". If the guy calls and shows interest though I would probably make the trade anyway

there ya go, let him make the call. then if it works out you'll have something new to play with for a while, and maybe trade it later on for the cm9.
K40 Stainless (traded to) -> PM9 (sold to fund) -> Ruger GP100 Blue 4"...now Kahrless

I am seriously thinking about going to the kangaroo holster and doing my "dummie button/velcor closure" thing with my dress shirts. Then, the PM45 would work perfectly. I guess I've done the boot carry thing for so long, when dress code requires, I don't really see the alternatives.

Dang... now I really WANT the PM45!
