Like my new PM9

Thanks to board members for the Kahr lube and prep guidelines. I now have about 600 rounds through my new PM9. Not one failure to chamber or eject. Great accuracy & recoil is comfortable. Had a few slide locks on partially full magazines. As per Jocko's recommendation, I trimmed the internal tab on the slide lock so it does not touch the bullet ogive and the problem stopped (Thanks Jocko!). Jay at Kahr is sending me a new slide stop. After my dismal experience with the P380, the PM9 experience is a welcome relief.

If you get the new slide stop, test it out to see if it is OK, then take it back out and put your modified one back in and just stay with that one, fully knowing u have a good backup if needed. IMO u did the right thing, and u proved it to yourself to.. Nice work.

Only thing left to do now is PORT IT and then shoot it like u stole it..

Glad to hear that your PM9 is shooting so well for you.

With my SD ammo (Black Hills 124 +P HP) I have the same slide lock problem that you were able to fix. How exactly did you go about trimming the tab?

Yes, thanks been through that one several times. I'm asking for a how to with respect to... File down keeping the same tab/nub contour - kinda like just make the nub smaller? File the closet part of the nub to the bullet where it passes and do so parallel to the slide thus changing the contour a bit?

I'll be trying different ammo first. I'll want a replacement slide lever in hand, as has been suggested, before doing any filing. I don't want to have to send this gun to Kahr even if they would pay shipping.

I tried to take more off of the front of the tab closest to the barrel where it initially hit the bullet ogive. I tried to minimize reducing the rear of the slide lock tab where it first touches the projection on the magazine follower. I used 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper wrapped around a small, flat piece...actually a Lego. I stopped when the tab BARELY cleared 124 gr. Golden Saber and Federal EFMJ rounds. In chambering these rounds, the tab still occasionally touched the ogive. However, this was enough to solve the problem. Not sure how the gun would function with 147 grain cartridges but I never use these anyway.

So yes, I changed the contour a bit by filing parallel to the slide.

jeffooo42. U did a nicejob. allu need is clearance,not alot of clearance is needed. If that round brushs the slide stop, it will even be OK, but u did it right. Kinda makes me wonder why all of a sudden are we getting some out of spec slide stops.

Hi Jocko: Not sure why there are more slide stop problems now. I did run into this problem about 10 years ago with my then new Mk9 Elite. Same solution worked. Thanks for all your help.
