+P and/or 124 gr ammo through a PM9

Hello, new here, and enjoying my new All Black PM9. I was perusing the net on inexpensive target ammo. Ran across this, "9mm Dynamit Nobel (Geco) 124gr. FMJ Ammo", from ATG : http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/produc...e/9mm-fmj-ammo.

Sorry I did not search the forums extensively, I was just wondering if this would be OK to shoot out of the PM9, or generally speaking is +P and/or 124gr ammo hard on this firearm?

u can shoot +p until the cows come home in the PM9 or any kahr for that matter. about the only thing that might break is YOUR WALLET.

Welcome aboard!

RWS Dynamit Nobel should be good stuff. I've got 100 rounds but haven't shot any yet. I'll let you know by the end of this week.

I had an air rifle made by them, I'll sometimes shoot their .177 air rifle pellets and I've used their #11 percussion caps in my .50 caliber sidelock muzzle loader. All quality stuff.

Why pay 10 bucks a box for unknown ammo, when you can get CCI Blazer for 9?
Is it paramount that you use +p in a FMJ round, or is reliability important?

Some of their "sporting" ammo sparks badly when it strikes the concrete floors. This particular stuff is banned at the range I use and I watched someone shoot several boxes of what must have been that stuff. They were hitting the floor with most shots on close targets and the sparks were spectacular. I thought they were using some kind of pyrotechnic stuff, but it's just the metal alloy sparking... not copper or enough copper jacket. Sparks were bright white and flew like sparklers, but without an arc... 8 to 10 feet or more away from the impact point in all directions.
The range banned the stuff because it's a fire hazard... really!

The 9mm was designed around the 124-127 grain bullets and some of the largest police departments in the country... L.A., NY, and Miami use those in +P or +P+... performance JHP's, for sure.
I use cheap Federal 115-gr FMJ(WAS $9.47, now $10.47 at Wally World) for the range, but I prefer to use all 124-grain stuff. I have a bunch of S&B 124-gr FMJ for the range, but I don't think a steady diet +P FMJ for the range is a great idea for your pistol, unless you do it once in a while to simulate defense ammo.

At 7 yards or so there's not going to be a difference in POI from POA.

Hi Wynn. Wasn't it the 124 grain ammo that was causing slide lock back problems with PM9s? I thought those rounds were tripping the slide lock lever.

First off, Thanks everyone, for their replies!! I've only been on this board starting this past weekend and am learning alot about my new PM9. I was inquiring about this ammo for outdoor range practice use, just to simulate the Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel HP stuff that will reside in the gun during it's Self Defense use.

I CAN'T say I would be shooting this Dynamit Nobel stuff only on occasion, because I am wanting to go to the range everyone weekend if I can just to shoot this fun gun!!! Price on this ammo seems reasonable unless someone tells me otherwise. There lies the dilemma, will regularly shooting this ammo eventually do harm to the gun? As someone indicated I can get the Federal Ammo stuff at Wally world for the same price but wanted similarities to what I will keep in the gun.

You're worrying too much. There's absolutely nothing wrong with using 124 gr. ammo in your gun. If anything, it will probably cycle better.

kahr built their guns around the 124 grain ammo, if your kahr doesn't do well with 124 grain ammo, then it is not the ammo but you have an issue in the gun, more than likely a bad slide stop lever out of spec. For that matter any 9mm semi that won't function with 124 grain ammo IMO isn't much of a gun then.

This brand of ammo is all I run through my 2 kahr PM9s, as well as my subgun and G19. It is awesome stuff, under the names Geco, Dynamit Nobel, RWS and RUAG. It's price is awesome as well, and in the case of ammotogo, cheaper than buying the federal stuff at walmart. It cost me 214 shipped per1k, at walmart it costs 225 with tax for 115gr ammo. Also should mention this stuff has a little more "balls" behind it lol.

Ran 100 rounds of RWS 124 FMJ through my PM9 last week. No issues at all! Plenty of dry leaves around my back yard but nothing caught on fire.
