  • Just got my PM9! Question/concern!

So I just picked up my brand new PM9 today, have taken it apart and cleaned it, but have a couple of questions...

1.) With an empty magazine in the PM9, the slide seems to get hung up as it comes forward. I assume it's because it's new? I have to tap the back of the slide to have it slam forward completely.

2.) Some polymer at the rear of the gun doesn't seem to be aligned correctly with the slide. I don't know if it's normal or not?
    Included is a picture...

I also found another picture that LOOKS like it's the same, so I may be worrying for nothing...

    Thanks, all!

    *EDIT*

Looks like it's normal, whew! Found this thread and this picture where you can see that part poking out the rear. Wonder why?

Go ahead and go through the 200 round break in and see how the gun does.Use a decent brand of ammo like Winchester white box or Remington UMC or any other brand name ammo and let us know how it goes.If it performs like practically all PM9s do,you`ll be all smiles.

Going to head out tonight and do just that. I have high hopes for this one. I've had a LOT of CCW pistols in the last month, and none of them have worked out...

        1.) S&W Bodyguard .380
        2.) Sig Sauer P238
        3.) Sig Sauer P290

Won't get into details, but..... please PM9, be the one!

            Correct use of PM9

Are you slingshoting to release the slide or are you using the slide stop lever to release the slide? You must use Kahr's method as stated in the Owner's Manual. Especially when not yet broken-in, only use the slide stop to chamber the first round.

                I sold the P290.

                So, range update!

200 rounds of FMJ Federal and American Eagle with both factory mags. ZERO issues. I mean zero. I absolutely loved it! LOVED it. So comfortable to fire. So manageable. I then put in a 6+1 of Speer Gold Dot +P. No issues at all!

                I love it!

It looked like this when I got home:

10 minutes with the CLP and it looked like this:

                I love this gun!

Yup, you were right. This isn't just a fun subcompact to shoot, - it's a fun gun to shoot, period. I think I like firing it as much as my M&P Pro 9mm. Can't wait to go shoot it again!

Question: Are there any parts I should keep around? Springs etc?

Jocko would be able to help you better on this.I replaced my outer recoil spring at about 1200 rounds because I read somewhere that was the time to replace it[or was it 1400 rounds?] but it probably would have lasted far longer. It was just a preventive measure.I`m at 2000+ now with no issues at all.I ordered 3 recoil springs at the time;they`re cheap.I also noticed that yours is the new style PM9 whereas mine is the old style.Don`t know if you would have to specify that when ordering all parts or not.Shoot a PM to Jocko. He knows these guns inside out.

If you shoot a lot of +P you may want to change the recoil spring around the 1000-1200 mark. Little guns need regular maintenance. You may want to keep a dedicated carry spring... one with few rounds on it and not used at the range. Then shoot as many rounds as possible on other springs.

Great photos. Excellent example of the "new" PM9.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

recoil springs are normall cheap to replace but it seems kahrs wants to stick it in our asses with making us now buy the total recoil assembly for the PM series and the cm kahrs at over $24 each plus postage. In my opinion they are ripping us on this as in thepast they would just sell us the outter spring for about 8 bucks.

Course us old style blunt nose PM owners can still buy the outter springs from wolffs at around 8 bucks. It won't be long and wolffs will have an outter recoil spring for the beveled slide PM series and the cm9..

I have a hard time imagining a person shooting alot of +P anything, due to the tremendous cost vs fmj range fodder. I know I certainly don't shoot much of it at all.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

They're just Wolff springs, right? They have them for $8.99 a spring, I believe, here:

                            http://www.gunsprings.com/index.cfm?...s&cID=1&mID=29

The 18lb spring is the ones I want, right?

                            ****EDIT****

I see. The design change (which, by the way, kinda made me mad on principle because I ordered it expecting it to look like Kahr's webpage, which it doesn't...) makes it necessary to buy the $24 bundle from Kahr. NOT pleased, let me tell you...
