New CM9 1st Shoot

I shot a range rental PM9 a couple of weeks ago and now have just shot my new CM9 for the first time.

1. Ouch - the front checkering or whatever they call it is very aggressive. Obviously the PM9 that I had shot was 2 or 3 years old with who knows how much use. Did you guys do anything to your grip to smooth it out any?

2. Otherwise, the CM9 was reliable. Put about 150 rounds through it using four 6-round magazines. I had one failure to lock open when empty and that was it.

3. Two of my magazines have Pearce grip extensions which did help a little.

A lot of folks here put some kind of rubber slip on grip on their smaller poly Kahrs. These usually include bicycle inner tubes or manufactured slip-on grips.

Onetrack, that was one of the firsts impressions I had from my CW45 too, but the more I used it the more I became not to feel it and now I like it. For me it gives me a very secure grip on it. I may get 'a grip' for it, but I'm not sure I need one anymore.

So go and shoot it more

Mine wore down a little with use. But they never really bothered me. I like the Kahr checkering. Light sanding or steel wool won't hurt anything if you like.

Used to put rubber grip sleeves on, too - mostly made them out of bicycle inner tubes - but found out they were tacky and clingy. For carry - shirts and t-shirts will not drape over them naturally (printing) and if you stick it in your pants pocket, it will cling to the pocket liner and make for a traffic jam on the way out. Almost like a static electricity thing. Will stick to skin, too and rub you raw.

Felt good at the range, but in a draw down, I could easily end up empty-handed.

CM9 is one awesome handgun...I actually like the grip on it...It makes it easier to hold on to for me...I own a KT PF9 that's a cheese grater... My LCP though is another story...Every time I shoot it, the grip rides about an inch up in my hand...Had to put a sleeve grip on that one..So I don't mind the Kahr...
