  • Got replacement recoil spring kit and...

    It's a lot longer.

Seems as though my new Kahr may be an old Kahr? I just bought it a month ago. Guess I'll be sending it back and getting the old style kit.

lol, that is funny I got a new spring kits and it is longer than the origional, but not as long as yours. I call them they told me to start cutting it half loop at a time...

Looks to me the the longer spring in on backwards so if your going to trim make sure its from the correct side.

All used recoil springs are shorter than new. Looks to me to be the same size, just not used yet. Count the coils... are they the same or close? Does it fit in the pistol?

I've seen new springs fully 1/3 longer than old, well used springs.

I have the same thing with my pm45. I have the old style and ordered a new assembly. Got it quickly. Too long,as in your post. I'm not going to mess with sending it back though, who ever runs things there doesn't seem to care if things are right or not.

Interesting. I noticed the same thing with my replacement recoil spring from Kahr for my K40...about 2 more coils than the previous spring, with both virtually identical in coil distance (i.e., original didn't appear more compressed than new spring).

Go ahead install the new recoil spring and test shooting it. You will like the softer recoil and it is easier to control the muzzle flip. Kahr sent me a longer recoil spring and I can see the improvement.

different coils. the one on the left has 15 coills and is on upside down. the one on the right had 13 coils . the one on the left is for the new style PM9 and PM40 with the beveled tad longer slide. the one on the right is for the older style pM40 and pM9 with the blunt nose slide. if u look closely, u will see that the left assembly unit itself is a tad longer than the right assembly unit. this is because of the difference in slide lengths.neither asskembly unit is interchangeable with either gun. as well as the outter spring When kahr tells one to shorten a spring, IMO tha tis pure b.s. and tells me they send you the wrong spring in the first place. Being today that you cannot order just the outter sprngs from kahr, ifyou get a longer spring by coil count over your original then more than likely you have the longer/shorter recoil unit to. If u have the PM40 and PM9 old style blunt nose kahr, go to wolffs andjust order thei8r outter recoil springs, it is alot cheaper than buying the completeunit from kahr which is really not needed.. right now wollfs does not offer the longer recoil spring for the new style beveled nose kahr PM40 and pM9..

ur kahr PM9 or PM40 comes factory with the 18# recoil spring, if you order from wolffs, I would advise ordering the 20.5# springs. It wo0rks great last alot longer and there should be some perceived less felt recoil..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Upside down? They sent it this way, odd.

surprises me. They assume u read the manual and remember their copmment about having the open end topwards the front of the slide.

But it's connected, it doesn't just slide off.

Maybe its just the image that makes it look wrong. If you zoom the image it looks pretty flat going around the base.

jocko, since you've done this at least a dozen times on your PM9, how many more rounds do you get out of the Wolffs?
I know they don't make the longer version (CM9).... yet.

I don'tknow, I try to change anywhere from 2000 to 2500,m whichg ever floats my baot first. I never had the factory springs really fail me. in zoomingup[ close is there more coils on one than the other though. I counted 15/vs 13.

In my case the wolffs springs are cheap for me to replace as I can just buy the outter spirng, u new style slides have to go to kahr to get ripped opff for the entire assembly which is definitely not needed, IMO. They used to sell just the outter sprinbg but now have changed policy which is still a rip off, IMO.
