            Anyone have a clue what is going on here. Its like baiting bear with donuts. Put a nice pile of sweets out and wait to see if anything shows up?

              I have no idea why I started this thread before I had time to tell the tale.....I guess I'm just mean like that :001_tt2:

              I purchased a great condition, Mag-Na ported PM45 from an LGS. My first trip to the range with it was not so good. The gun was a disaster in the 100+ rounds I managed to get through I experienced frequent dropping mags, FTEs all over the place, a couple of FTFs and the slide would lock back on a loaded mag. I called the shop, they wanted to have their smith try it out then either fix it or send it back to Kahr. I gave the pistol back too the shop untouched from my last outing(per their request). Oddly enough, the PM45 functioned perfectly for the three people from the shop that shot it and they even took a video for me.... So, I took it back and to the range where it also ran without issue through 120+ rounds. I liked the PM45 but put it away until I could get more run time with it. At some point it came up in conversation and a local guy wanted to trade me a Ruger LCR/ammo package for the PM45, I agreed. A few weeks later I get a call from the guy I traded with telling me he took the PM45 out to prep it for his first use and the slide is locked halfway open and won't budge(he never even got to chamber a round) .....I'm thinking, Oh crap! Working together over the phone we were able to get the slide to release but it kept sticking open. I called the shop, pretending it was still mine and they said to bring it in again, this time the malfunction was reproducible for them....The smith there could not figure out what was wrong with this PM and shipped it back to Kahr...That was over a month ago....I felt really bad that I traded a non-functional gun, the buyer was very cool about it, as he knew the history I had with it, but this still was not sitting right with me. So, I offered to buy the PM45 back instead of making him wait any longer for the it(I was told by the shop sometimes the turnaround can be several months....). The buy back was agreed too and done.
              When the PM45 returns from Kahr it will be "repaired or replaced" and will be mine again. I will say this I hated the Ruger LCR and sold it off, I'm carrying the Sig P290 currently and really like the little gun but the PM45 has great ergos and I love the fit and carry-abilty of it......plus its a .45auto I have confidence Kahr will make it right and I have to admit I'm excited to give the PM45 a second chance.

                  Man, why couldn't you have waited until the PM45 was returned before relating your long story?

                  Nice that your LGS is playing middle man for you. Hope it comes back to you 100% reliable, that would be awesome.

                    I still say they are such a great and convienient size little 45 that they are worth doing whatever is necessary to make it reliable.
                    I'm confident Kahr will make it right. I don't buy the several months to get back from kahr at all unless there's a major part they are waiting for off the line like a whole slide etc. Even then not months.

                    Thanks for finishing the story and I look forward to the dramatic conclusion, hopefully with fingers crossed a very happy ending. I know it will be, I read ahead.

                      The one time I had to deal with sending a firearm to Kahr for repair I remember the turn-a-round being quick...but I'm just repeating here what the shop told me.
                      This is a done deal..so the PM45 will be back in my hands sonner or later..I'll keep you posted.

                        Well..this did not go so well and the experience does not speak so well for Kahr's service.
                        The PM45 was returned to the shop yesterday and I made the 50min drive to go pick it up, only to find it still broken. Kahr included a list of repairs and the old recoil spring. Upon checking the gun out I found that the slide lock would not engage....in fact with the slide on no one in the store could even get it to budge. We stripped it reinserted and fussed around but could not get it to function. All I can say is, that is a pretty hard malfunction to miss and doesn't say much for Kahr's QC or concern for their customers. The shop gave me a full refund in store credit and I washed my hands of this gun.

                          When you say... it would not engage... you mean you could not release a locked slide with the slide lock?

                          If so - that is by design!

                            Actually when I say ENGAGE....I mean ENGAGE.
                            You know,....do what a slide stop is there to do....that really complex, "move up and ENGAGE the slide to lock it back".
                            If I was talking about releasing the slide that would be a DISENGAGE...

                            Are we competely clear now? or might you need a video?

                              That really sucks. Sorry it wasn't a happy ending for the gun and Kahr's reputation. The silver lining does seems to be your gun shop, there are shops that wash their hands of a gun once it is paid for and passes out the front door.
