  • My New Mirror Polished CM9!

Yes. I bought qwiktim's New Custom Kahr CM9 - Professionally Polished. Tim took some really great pictures, and he sent me some more when I requested them. I have arranged them in a photobucket slide show Enjoy!

It looks phenomenal! It certainly worth the money.

Was the barrel and ramp polished too?!

Wow! That is sweet! I may have to try at least a little smoothing on mine. But "professionally polished"? Not in my lifetime, maybe "no longer flat looking".

Yes. The barrel and ramp are polished to a mirror finish. It was worth it to me because it is everything that I wanted in my daily CC companion.

Interestingly, what looks like bright yellow paint on the sights in a couple of the pictures is a photographic or lighting anomaly. The sights are the original white on the gun. Tim is still puzzled about how they could look so brilliantly yellow in those photos!

I told Tim that I remembered seeing a product like that on the web: bright colored light activated luminescent paint in various colors that can be applied to gun sights. He liked the idea. So, I started looking in my Favorites list and found the website: http://www.brightsights.com/index.shtml. They also have free downloadable targets here: http://www.brightsights.com/targets.shtml. Check it out. :33:

There is a Cylinder & Slide Custom CW9 on Gunbroker for $1299. Been there for a long time. No one will touch it at that price. Just a #2 Package. Mine is prettier! :001_tt2:

Yeah. Looks like they can do the mirror finish. Looks expensive, though. I don't know where mine was polished, or how much it cost. I do know I got a good deal!

LOL! I love their tips for care of polished guns, first 2 rules:

Tip 1 DO NOT USE YOUR T-SHIRT TO WIPE YOUR POLISHED PART!

Tip 2 SEE TIP #1 , READ IT AGAIN.

Wow. I thought a T-shirt would be one of the softest cloths I could use. But Tip 3 says what to use:

Tip 3 Use only SUPER SOFT Flannel clothes to wipe and polish your part. Using a T-shirt will scratch your finely polished surface. It would be like taking steel wool to your car's paint job.

The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I like the looks of the polished CM9 a lot. I would like to do mine the same way. How do you think the shine should hold up to holster wear? Even if it showed a little wear I would think that a some metal polish would fix it right up. I mean stainless is harder than leather anyway, right?

Well, if even a T-shirt will scratch it up, I think it is going to take some care. They have a lot of good advice here: http://www.customizedcreationz.com/s...polishing.html.

Holster wear could become an issue. One thing is to use open muzzle holsters, because dirt and grit could build up inside a closed holster. I am looking at two holsters lined with finished leather on the inside. The first is a really nice Leather Lined Open Top Belt Holster from Tagua that is priced at about half what some holster makers charge just for a leather lined option. I think it is one of the very best holster values out there. The other is a Tuckable Reversed IWB Holster from High Noon Holsters, one of the most impressive holster makers that I have discovered. It is pricey, but really impressive. Both of these manufacturers have several interesting designs.

I think I am going to get some Blue Magic Metal Polishing Cream to take care of any damage that appears.

I am no longer using a T-shirt on it. I am using my silicone impregnated flannel cloth all over the gun. It even makes the polymer frame and the Qwik-Grip rubber grip sleeve look better. And I am using a soft cotton hand towel some, too.
                            Very interesting...
