Do Kahrs have a firing pin block?

To say we have to respect our firearms is an understatement. Now that my CW45 is 100% the thought occurred to me, "What if I accidently drop the pistol with one in the chamber?"
Is there a FPB to prevent discharge?
I sure hope so....because a 230g Speer Gold Dot would definitely not be good for my health.
My CW45 trigger pull is lighter than that of my CM9.
Furthermore, me coming from Glock, it has no additional safety on the trigger.
Now that I know the incredible power of this CW45...am I safe if I accidently drop it?

Effectively, yes. They are really striker fired and the terminology may not match exactly, but there is a block that prevents the pre-cocked striker from moving forward unless the trigger is pulled. Completely drop safe.

to ur statement thaqt in a glock, it is 50-% in a pre-cockjed positon, some type of safetry is required. In a kahr the striker is maybe 10-% precocked, even without the striker block, u could drop that gun till the cows come home and it wil not have enough enertia in the stgriker top make a dent.

Theat is why kahrs have a looooong 3/8" trigger pull, ur actualy pulling your revolver trigger, which causes the cyliner to rotate and the firing pin to be released, where as with the kahr you ar e now pulling the striker back 3/8" to prouduce enough power to generate a "bang" thing.

Ur very very safe with the kahr Roger. why ur 45 trigger seems easier than ur other kahr is maybe morelikely one gun is smoother than the other, as the striker sprngs are all the same, although we do know after so many rounds the striker spring also takes a pre designed set and some trigger poundage is lost. I think your feeling more of the smoothness, for according to wolffs, who makes kahr striker springs, it is at 6#. IMO u wouldhave to have one very sensitive trigger finger "feel" to feel maybe a 1# different betweenb the twon guns but certainly u could feel a smoother working trigger system..

I have been told that there many more ad's from people grabbing a falling gun and accidentally grabbing the trigger than there are from guns hitting the ground.
I don't know the source of the info, but it makes sence to me. I try not to catch mine when I drop it but it's hard. It's just a reflex to try to catch anything you drop.

Yep, these guns are very safe, even idiot proof. The "grab" is responsible for more gun drop-discharges than anything else.

When interviewed: No I never tried to grab it, it went off when it hit the ground.....

When these guns were tested, GLOCKS, Berettas, S&W and XD, the testers could not get the same gun to replicate the discharge, unless a finger was introduced into the mix. GLOCKs for a long time took a bad rap, but in reality, there are more GLOCKs out than all the other carry guns combined, so there will be more incidents.

People lie, for a variety of reason, many are not malicious, just stupid.

Six years ago I dropped my 6+1 MK9 from a pocket holster while retrieving it from the center console.

I watched, in slow motion it seemed, as it fell from about chest high (6ft) to my trucks steel step, do a 360 twirl and land HARD on the concrete, both strikes were on the back of the slide. (It took a conscious effort not to grab it. I have carried or hunted with handguns for almost 30 years, I have dropped a few unfortunately and KNOW not to reach!)

I cleared the gun, did a function test and took it to the desert to shoot it. No issues at all. The scratch buffed out after about a week of effort.

Striker fired guns only go BANG when the booger hook is used.

Yep, it's the grab that causes the AD I think. Only dropped mine once but my instinct was to throw both hands up in the air and yell "Oh Crap" while sticking my foot under the gun to cushon the fall. That may or may not be right to do but it did hurt the foot. I was in the house and it was empty but I was only wearing socks. Still glad my reflex was not to grab it.
