CM9 and Mitch Rosen OWB epress line holster

I have followed some tips about sticking my CM9 into a plastic bag, and than into my Mitch Rosen OWB Express line holster to break the holster in.. The CM9 holsters is alright, good feel and retention, But trying to draw from the holster is very tight, even to the point it is lifting my holster and gun belt with conciderable force to unholster my CM9. Much to hard and slow. Which seems not to be adaquite in a draw situation, My Ruger .380 LCP in my OWB Jeff Hays holsters and unholsters very easy, plus has great retention.
Any suggestions how I can get the Mitch Rosen OWB holster to unholster the CM9 much easier? I have gone back to putting the CM9 into a plastic Bag and into the holster with hopes this my give a bit more room when unholstering??? The holster is brand new, and very stiff, I am sure it will break in better. But right now it is to tight to draw from, Which would lave me at a diadvantage in a defence situation. Any Suggestions would be appreciated!

How thick is the plastic bag you're using? You might want to try two or three bags together to make the gun fit even tighter into the holster which will stretch it out a little more and should solve the problem. It has worked for me with several different holsters (Alessi and Milt Sparks)

I don't use no bags but squirt a little 6% silicone spray inside the holster and stuff the gun in. Leave it in the holster as often as you can.
I did this with a PM45 holster I got from Michael W. It was wicked tight at first and I was skeptical at even trying it but eventually it worked and fits very well now. Still a bit snug so it didn't get sloppy or anything.

Did the same thing with my K40 ankle holster. Worked at it till my PM45 fits like a glove in it. I didn't think that would work either, guess I gotta get more confidence in myself.

I find that the best think to do is to put the gun ( make sure that it is not loaded) in an old gym sock, pull tight and stuff completely into the holster.
place the gun, sock and holster in a draw over night and in the morning you will have a perfectly fitted holster.
It might be a little hard to remove the gun/sock for the holster. I find that any sprays put into the holster can and usually breaks down the stiffness and shape of the holster.
I do this with Sparks, Rosen, Andrews etc. holsters.

I'll add to the list...try wrapping your gun in wax paper and leave it over night then work it in and out a few times.

My Mitch Rosen was a bit tight too, I just leave the gun in it, and when I think about it, I work it in and out, it's breaking in, but it will take some time and patience. But the draw is now adequate if need be.

A good gun belt goes along way too, anchors it there, I use a 1.5" Milt Sparks.

Otherwise I've used the plastic bag and doubled it up on some other holsters, that works too.

Nuther method that normally works is to put the unloaded gun in a layer of wax paper and put the wax papered gun and holster under your mattress and sleep on it.
I would strongly advise against using any leather conditioners.

I have been making my own leather holsters lately, and mine are boned/molded closely. I have found after dyeing and finishing they get even tighter. I usually end up putting one or two tightly wrapped bags around the gun and leave it in over a few days also repeatedly drawing/inserting the gun to get to the level of retention I like. It will work, just keep doing it a little at a time so you don't stretch it out too much.

Another thing you could maybe try, pancake type holsters really tighten up when worn as it wraps around your body. Are you thin? That would make that type holster even tighter when worn around 3 0'clock area maybe you could flatten it out some by moving it to like 4/5 O'clock position. May help till you get it broken in more???

I ended up sticking the CM9 into three plastic baggies and than into the Mitch Rosen Expressline OWB holster. every couple of days I pull the gun out and flip the excess part of the baggies to the other side of the gun and reinsert back into the holster, hopefully this will stretch the holster enough to keep good retention on the gun, but allow to draw from the holster much easier.

I agree with most others on this topic not to use any sprays or conditioners.

Also Beardog, No I am not thin, 5' !0" 218 lbs. I use a good gun belt, works great with my Ruger LCP and Jeff Hays holster, The Mitch Rosen Expressline Holster for the CM9 I bought from the Kahr Website, just seems to be very thick and well made, just needs more breakin time I am guessing!

Glad that worked for you, next time try the sock, it will save you days of work.
I carry in a Rosen IWB Clipper and it worked in about 5 hours

The three baggies did the trick. It took a few days.
But holster seem to draw nicely now. and still great retention!
