  • CM9 so far not so good

I got my new cm9 on sat. 7-16 when right home broke down the gun and I did the proper prep for the new kahrs ( thanks jocko for the great posts ) then lubed it as from the kahr lube diagram then off to the range on mon. 7-18. I when thru 150 rounds of wwb and I had 2 nose dives ( not so bad ) when home cleaned and lubed the gun and I sanded the mag follower and cleaned and lube the spring.Back to the range on mon. 7-25 ran thru another 150 rounds of wwb and I had 4 or 5 nose dives. I was not a happy camper when right home called kahr and I shipped the gun back to kahr on wed. 7-27, I'm still waiting on my gun back from kahr. This gun shoots great when it fires, but kahr has had my gun in repair longer than I have owned it. Boy I'm glad I didn't the extra money on the pm9. They have kahrtalk. com so we can fix are own guns without sending them back.If kahr doesn't get there sh-t together this is my first and last kahr........

not much sense in us adding to anything that might have helped u, as the gun is back at kahr. My opinion: u rushed things to much, in a hurry to send it back without coming here first and letting members know what was going on to get thieir comments. The cm9 is just one super gun and \yours has to be one of maybe two that I have known to have to go back.

hope it all works out oK for u.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

kahrs are just very tight no slop guns, they take a little bit to properly wear and naturally smooth out.

hope the it functions better for you upon its return.

Why do I have to fix my own gun? Kahr knows they have issues with their mags.Just wondering what is the come back percent rate is on new kahrs? There are 2 or 3 lgs in my area that don't sell kahr because they have too many malfunctions. If the motor city built cars and trucks like kahr builds guns we all would be mechanics.

Alot of gun shops and a lot of shooter get a puzzled look on their face when you say Kahr. Just haven't heard of them. I know they were out for a long time before I knew who or what they were.

Alot of shops hear rumors that there are issues, take them as gospel or have one come back with an issue and call it pandemic and dont want to sell anymore.

I had one dealer tell me I didn't want one when I got my PM45, said they were too expensive. So I just went to Buds and got one. They didn't say they were too expensive.

Alot of guys behind the counter at gun shops could do equally well working on a used car lot so I don't take what alot of them say like it came from the good book.

Truth be told if you have no tolerance for tweaking or breaking in a gun, to make it reliable and run well then maybe a Kahr isn't for you. And that's perfectly ok. There's very little that will compare with them for size and carry comfort but there are many that are close.

PS- I don't know anyone that owns a car that doesn't want a good mechanic for a friend or a plumber far as that goes. The difference is motorcity builds em so a mere mortal even with a big tool box can't work on anything, sort of computers with wheels and transmissions anymore.

Sorry to read that you had issues with your CM9. Hope Kahr gets it running 100% and back to you in short order.

+1 . . . I don't have a 9mm Kahr, but my PM40's are both rather picky about JHP rounds. They seem to like shorter, lighter bullets, with a rounded profile. Come to think of it, I believe I bought the lightest FMJ rounds early on too, trying to reduce the recoil for my wife during break-in.

Anyway, when your gun comes back, please allow me to suggest finding a 115 grain or 124 grain FMJ round that is cost effective for the break-in period. Then cautiously explore available JHP rounds to find something your gun likes.

Once you find the right ammo, I would suggest that you resist the urge to wander or you will have a small pile of ammo your pistol does not like, as I do.

Best of luck and welcome to the forum.

I ran winchester white box 124 grain fmj 150 rounds each time I went to the range, kahr asked what kind of ammo I was using and when I told them they said ship the gun the back them. When I get the gun back from kahr I'm running back to the range to check it out.

If you don't have too much of the Winchester stuff, try to find some Federal American Eagle. It should be similar in cost and probably more consistent. Several people I know will not buy WWB no matter how cheap because they have had bad luck with it. Not in Kahr pistols, by the way.

Anyway, it sounds like you have it under control. I'll keep some fingers crossed just in case and hope for a positive report.

You should be good to go when you get it back. Maybe there was a snag with your's. I can tell you once you get it running right you will love it. I'm up to 300 rounds and no (and I do mean zero) problems.

I carried my little LCP today to shoot it because it's been a while. After shooting the Kahr and then going to the LCP I asked myself why am I bothering. I like the Kahr too well now. Then I had a squib from some import ammo in the LCP after about 15 rounds so that ended my range time today. .

Hang in there. You will love that CM9.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I like your state bec. my permit is honored there not to mention it's the locale of Ted Nugent the motor city mad man. Now, I have to make a trip to your neighbor state of IL and am not too thrilled about it. It's not honored there. But I guess I shouldnt worry since Chicago is one of the country's safest cities.

Maybe a dumb question, but did you use the slide stop, or slingshot the slide?
