My PM45 has been back to Kahr twice and runs great now. But the last time I cleaned it, I had a hard time getting the slide off. It catches after about a quarter of an inch of forward travel with the slide stop out. It will come off, but with more force than usual. As I am looking to see what the problem is, I notice what I thought was a splinter of polymer coming off the frame right where the rail ends at the rear. But the closer I look, I think it might be a shim, or wedge put in to stake the back of the rail in. Anybody ever seen this. My eyes aren't so good, so maybe it is just a piece of polymer knocked loose from recoil. But I don't want to just yank it out if my rail is going to work loose.

PM45 frame splinter

Although they look like two separate pieces, the front rails are actually part of a U-shaped metal structure embedded in your polymer frame during the injection molding process. Losing that splinter of plastic will not loosen the assembly at all. Go for it!
It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.

I honestly can't see well enough in your picture to tell whats going on. The rail is actually one piece for both sides and encapsulated by the tupperware, so there should be no need for a shim or wedge.
On my PM45 in nearly that same area the little corner kind of splintered off and was just kind of hanging on both sides. I shot it some and thought about it and determined it wasn't really serving any purpose so I took an exacto knife and just cut the offensive little pieces off. Don't think it hurt a thing.
I can't tell if that's whats going on with yours or not. You might want to dig out the magnifier for a closer look. I can't imagine its a big deal.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

looks
to me like a smart peace of polymer just appeared. get a sharp knife or file and just remove it. no harm at all, probably was there ih the first place but now has finally just came loose. It is not a shim. gun is running great, don't rock the boat... shoot it like u stole it..Originally posted by Orion View PostMy PM45 has been back to Kahr twice and runs great now. I de-splintered it.
By the way, this gun is amazing. I think it's the perfect balance of size, weight, and firepower. I may have finally found the gun I can CC summer or winter, and keep on the night stand without feeling I've compromised either place.
