  • Need holster suggestions for my Kahr PM9?

This is my first time here on KahrTalk. I recently bought a Kahr PM9 with night sights and I love it. I can't say enough good things about it. The only problem is that I haven't had a chance to carry it yet because I don't have any holsters for it. I was thinking about getting a pocket holster, a IWB holster, and maybe a AIWB holster.

For the pocket holster I was thinking about getting either a Desantis Super Fly or an Alabama Holster Company pocket holster. What do you guys think and why?

For the IWB I was thinking about getting a Crossbreed Minituck or a Minotaur MTAC? What do you think and why?

I didn't see any AIWB holsters I liked that much besides the Garrity's Gunleather IN-VICTUS but it is $170 and that is a lot of money for a holster. It looks like the best appendix holster on the market though.

    Suggestions please.

i just got this kydex holster from pjholster.com today. it has an extremely thin profile, quick turn around time for production (2 days), can and will be made to your specific request if you need something special, and only costs $40. he can do pocket holsters as well if that's what you want. just give paul a call or shoot him an email and you'll probably have a response in the same day.

if you want to spend a little more money, a lot of people have good reports of the garrett silent thunder line up.

they also make one specifically for appendix carry for 3" barrels

For the IWB I would select the MTAC of the 2 choices you gave.
The crossbreed is a cheap copy, most people like to say they are the best because they haven't tried any others.

+1 for the Super Fly. It's a great pocket holster. Their Nemesis is also very nice. I own both and kind of swap them around for my PM9 and PM45 for pocket carry.

Well, I have a brand new Super Fly holster for a PM9 for sale here:
          http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8306

I got this nice high ride Open Top Belt Holster from Tagua for $45 shipped, and it is fully lined at that price.

I got a pocket holster that works surprisingly well at minimizing the bulk and printing. It looks large in the pic, but it is very thin because it is horsehide, and the way it comes together to thin edges front and back really smooths the outline. It moves a little bit when I draw, but it doesn't come out of the pocket, so I have learned to ignore the movement. It is the El Paso Pocket Max and I got a real good price on it at Holsters Unlimited. Here it is...

There is no printing at all in my jeans when I'm standing. There's a bulge there when I'm sitting, but not too distinguishable as a gun. It's very comfortable and pretty easy to draw from, even when sitting. It is also easy to re-holster the gun, too, because the stiff horsehide stays open.
          Very interesting...

            Holsters for CM9/PM9

I just put up a video about my experience with holsters and specifically what I settled on for the CM9, a Cell Pal one IWB from Kahr, and a homemade back pocket holster. Check it out.

If you are looking for a quality leather holster (and looking for an alternative to Rosen, Alessi & Sparks)- give a shout to Tim Thurner over at TT Gun Leather. Super nice guy, who is extremely knowledgeable regarding the ins and outs of leather and holster making. He is also associated with the Occidental holster brand. This is my second holster from Tim. The most recent holster is a custom OWB configuration for my PM9. Pics to come soon.

Check out Tommy Theis holsters. $35 less than Crossbreed. And 3 day turn around.

                  Welcome Jeep!

LarryD said he was also interested in a IWB holster. The PM9 fits terrific in a Garrett Silent Thunder. That's a Kydex shell lined with premium soft leather to protect the guns finish. I've had mine for over a year now and wear it almost daily. It conceals very well and is comfortable. If you don't wear an undershirt you'll find the Kydex is cool on the skin without causing sweating like leather. Should you sweat anyway, it won't harm the holster or gun.

The Garrets are really good people and stand solidly behind their products. They go for $85 but were on sale recently. I don't know but they may give you a break if you call and ask them. Be sure to mention you were referred by Kahr talk.

I have an MTAC for my Glock 23 and I love it. The only reason I mentioned the Crossbreed is because it looks like it is a little smaller than the MTAC and that's what I'm going for.

There isn't anything different between them besides the finish and the flap correct? If that's the case than I'll probably just get the Super Fly for the hell of it. If I don't use the flap it will be the same thing as the Nemesis.

This is essentially correct. The finish is supposedly a little tackier on the Super Fly, but I used to have a Nemesis for a .25acp pocket gun I used to own and there isn't much difference. Both holsters stay put in your pocket very well. The only other difference is a thin strip of Velcro hook along the front edge of the Super Fly that you attach the flap to.

                            Short term solution

I also recently bought a PM9 and was faced with the same situation. As an inexpensive short term solution, until I could decide which holster I really wanted, then wait for it to arrive, I bought a Blackhawk nylon IWB No. 5. It was less than $20 and I got it off the shelf at Bass Pro Shop. The gun fits nicely but there is no retention. I am reluntant to wear it on or behind my hip for fear that gun could work itself up and out of the holster. I wear it AIWB. For a more permanent solution I decided on a #1KB Cantable Clip holster from Fist Holsters, but it will be a few weeks before it arrives. It is shown in the New Holsters and Options section of their website. http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/k1/1KB.htm
