  • Different angle, who bought a CM9 and wished later they went with a PM9?

    Hi all,

So after doing a ton of reading there are so many who say save the $150-200 and get a CM instead of a PM(insert cal), just out of curiosity:

Who initially went with a CM to save a few dollars only to find out 2-3 months later and when after they adjusted to their initial investment, thought they should have just spend the extra few dollars and got the PM instead?

I thought about this concept myself because I have done this a number of times, I find I mentally settle and get the lesser only to be haunted by my initial desires leading me to either wishing I had just got what I originally wanted or selling what I have to purchase the original model.

After putting things into perspective, I myself chose the PM (which will be here next week), but I was temped by the price of the CM, at the end of the day I knew I would want the PM and said screw it, after a few months or a year I wont be too concerned with the extra expense, and felt I would be happier with the additional benefits of the PM series (for me NS's were a key purchase value).

Just thought I would throw it out there

    Cheers!

Luckily for me the CM9 wasn't available at the time I got my PM9, otherwise I'd be adding my name to this list just because that's how I do things (settle, then sell for a loss, and upgrade to what I originally wanted).

I always triple-rethink every purchase I make. After getting past the initial headaches of nosedive problem, I have no regrets on choosing the CM over the PM. Honestly, I wanted a black diamond PM9 but could not afford it plus the break in ammo. Not sure if I would get different/better performance out of the PM versus the CM. Learning to be happy with what I have is a difficult concept for me. You will love the PM and know that you got a top quality firearm.

This is why I've grown beyond the "Fuggedabowdit! Get a CM9!" mentality and advise people to get what they really want, especially if affording the black PM9 with night sights isn't a problem. But I wouldn't advise getting a 2-tone PM9 with plain sights thinking it must be superior because it costs more. Just MHO.
        Very interesting...

Hey, many of us feel that $200.00 is a small price to pay for the extra snob appeal that goes with owning the PM9.

I wouldn't call it snob appeal

It's just one of those things, I mean sure, $150-200 is a lot at the time of purchase, but fast forward 6 months, is it still going to be worth it?

I bought my all black with NS PM9 in July after considering the purchase for awhile.
The CM9 was out but I didn't care for the configuration of the pistol, still don't.
I'm perfectly content with my PM9.

Hey, It's a moot point. Both guns have the same 7 patents and preform as expected. Both will do exactly the same thing with the same dependability. Either one will protect you exactly the same.
Now here is the kicker: Pm9 is the luxary model with the different rifleing and more eye apeal. It will always have a resale value of $200 more than the CM9. Your investment will hold it's value and be returned to you if/when you sell it. Now the CM9 is for us guys that want preformance without all the bells and whistles. We saved $200 and our investment will hold it's value and be returned to us if/when we ever sell it. Its a win/win situation. We both got a great value gun that will always be worth our investment. We both won!

Don't think it has anything to do with snob appeal. I wanted the best Single Stack 9mm pistol that I could afford being that i was going to use it as my EDC. The CM9 was not being made at the time and even if it was I'm still not sure I'd have bought it because it's not black and they do not have night sights like I wanted and my PM9 already has them. More than likely I'd look at the CM9 today and a few others but still bought the PM9. The gun just drips quality. I have no regrets spending the extra money for a gun of such quality. I have never had one single problem with my PM9. Like I said tough I carry it almost everyday as a SD pistol and it gets treated accordlingly. It gets cleaned and lubed after every visit to the range.

I completely understand sfla99's thought process. I've thought the exact same thing about the CW45 vs. P45. One thing to factor in is the magazine price - you get two with the PM, one with the CW, and it's $44. EXCEPT that there's a free extended mag offer right now. A CW45 would come with one 6rnd mag and a 7rnd mag if you send in the coupon.

I'm finding a $239 price difference between those two guns at the cheapest places I could find. Worth it? Probably six months down the road, I wouldn't even remember the price. But I'd still probably opt for the CW.

What! I thought you were zero'd in on a PM45. Focus damn it. Focus!

Haven't heard any PM9's owners saying their sights are breaking off... The quality just isn't the same, there is more attention put into the PM9, regardless how similar/identical they may be on the inside. For a carry weapon I value the sight mounts on the PM9 enough to justify the cost alone.

                          Cm9

I am not sorry I bought the CM9! I was so happy with the CW9 that when the CM9 came out I thought wow another great Kahr pistol for carry. My opion about CCW pistols is they spend untold hours in a pocket on a belt and if ever used will shoot 20 feet or less. I shoot both the CW9 and CM9 at the range and in my version of IDPA with several shooting friends. Shoot what you carry, they stand up very well.

I saw an article in a magazine about the CM9 and thought I NEED one of those so I started reasearching and reading a lot along with price checks and a lil fondling in the gun shop. After it was all said and done I ended up with a PM9. I liked the extra features on it versus the CM and in recent years I'm trying train myself to buy what I want instead of settling for something less than that. I know I know I'm spoiled but I find it costs me less in the long run to just pony up a lil bit more cash if nessacary.

Very intelligent thought process, Sycko. Now, if you'd use those brains and think it through, you'd quit smoking, too. :7:
