Wisconsin CCW Permit time...

Wisconsin adopted regulations for concealed carry starting November 1, 2011. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to mail in my application until November 3rd and it made a big difference in turnaround time for processing by the WI DOJ.
My CCW license finally arrived in today’s mail with my number of 19,XXX.

Here’s a recap of some processing times that I’ve pick up on from this forum:

I’ve heard that applications were around 50,000 for November and see that the CCW training classes are still being held with regularity in my area of NE Wisconsin. More and more people seem to be jumping on board with concealed carry in Wisconsin.

It’s good to be able to join most of the rest of the country in being able to defend ourselves outside of our houses. Now that the paperwork is in order, the attachment is a picture of what I will be carrying.

are they going to reciprocarte with states that issue ccw permits and now will honor wisconsin ccw holders. example Indiana honors all states with ccw where as some states that have ccw do not honor Indiana holders. I think that is bull sheet

Considering the pent up demand, that looks real quick.

In Michigan, Macomb County, mine took from Feb 20 to May 20th. The last two weeks were because I couln't get scheduled for the Gun Board. We have been a "Shall Issue" State for 9 years. Too many applicants.

I just sold my PM9 to a Wisc. member on KahrTalk. Gonna carry 1911s or ocassionally a Sig P238 380

thats whatnice about our Indiana ccw permitting. One can opt for a 4 year permit or opt for a life time permit. One time precessing, finger printing, background check etc and then $100 and u get a lifetime permit. super idea, bug money maker for the state also.

As of 11/08/2011 here is the WI DOJ list of states CCWs that Wisconsin recognizes:

Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands

I do not see Indiana on the list.

Micha2u, Congrats on receiving your CCW today! I guess 1 day made a big difference. I will soon be a proud owner of a PM9 thanks to TriggerMan. I applied for the Utah permit which they cashed my check on Oct.28, and am still waiting for it in the mail, Anyone else apply for Utah?

I wish we had a lifetime option in Georgia. I have to renew every five years, and unless they changed the process [the legislature was talking about it] renewing is just like getting a new permit.

Do you need to own property there or will they issue Non-Resident for the cash..I mean fee? Will a bunch of other States then reciprocate with Utah?

They will issue to out of state residents but they require photo and finger prints, and will last for 5 years. You also have to have taken a 6 hour class taught by a Utah certified person.

As a matter of fact I applied for a Utah CCW yesterday. I had to wait until I had my Wisconsin CCW to send along with the application as they require that as part of their CCW approval process.

Utah is fairly inexpensive ($65 for non-resident) and is accepted by a lot of other states including our neighboring state of Minnesota where a Wisconsin CCW is not recognized.

So.. If Wi. recognizes these states, that doesn't mean that they recognize ours? I thought that there was reciprocity between these? Can someone explain the madness....Thanks...Mike
