So did Kahr make the CM9 for people who could not afford a PM9?

Without it, the Keltec PF9, Ruger LC9 and now the Beretta Nano would have ran that market.

    Good strategic move by Kahr.

However anyone with a CM9 should consider replacing the polymer sights to something a bit more rugged for a daily carry weapon.

The way I see it, you take a CM9 (no promotions), add an extra magazine to equal what the PM9 comes with, and add better sights - you're pretty much at the cost of a PM9 anyway. If you want it black, that's at least another $75 for Cerakote or similar.

Really just depends on what you want out of it... I think most people will take the one off the shelf and be quite content for years, but I do see the plastic sights being an issue in the long term, if not the short term.

Well that is true. Do you know if the triggers differ any between the two? I love my PM9 trigger!

I don't know if it's "couldn't afford" it, but maybe just people who didn't want to spend that much. The sub compact 9 market has gotten pretty competitive, and some people don't feel they need the refinements of the PM9. There's nothing wrong w/ the CM9. Just different guns for different people.

Same trigger in all Kahr models.

In my particular case, it had nothing to do with "afford". My local gun shop had one used PM9, and one new CM9 in stock at the time of my purchase.

Since I wanted a new gun, I went with the CM9. I have been extremely pleased with the pistol.

Nitpick away. I wrote "pretty much", find "identical" yourself.

$86 difference is 'pretty much' in my mind.

You might not think that $200.00 is a significant difference between the two, but some other people might. Darn near 1000 rounds of 9mm ammo.

It is, but now you're talking apples to apples so throw in a polygonal barrel for the PM9. My point is that the sights should be changed on the CM9, the PM9 sights need not be replaced as they are not plastic.

You added night sights, not me.

Well in that case one would only need to change the front sight of the CM9. Further lowering the cost on the CM. Stock PM9 about $600. CM with extra mag and replaced front sight about $420.00 Therefore when all is said and done, the cost for the difference in barrel types and the fancy engraving on the PM is about $180.00

My opinion stands, I assume yours does as well. No sense going back and forth all day long over something so miniscule.
