I shoot WWB FMJ, and I've found brass (?) flakes in the striker channel.
I just cannot imagine what kind of mechanical action can produce that result!

      Imagine this:
      1. The striker hits the primer, knocking some flakes loose.
      2. The bullet fires, sending the slide backward at a very high speed.
      3. There is also some striker drag that occurs.
      4. When the slide reaches the end of its travel and comes to a very sudden stop, loose metal flakes near the striker channel get jammed in there by inertia.
      Very interesting...

Very ingenious! But why do the flakes look like brass ("gold"-like)?

On the internet, the number of posts do not correlate to actual knowledge.
The notch is supposed to be there as well as the bulge at the front of the frame!

Factory brass has burrs on the case mouth both inside and out.
These brass slivers get scraped off the top round in the mag by the slide and end up everywhere.

                Definitely coming off the bullets.

Does this happen only in Kahr, or all striker semi-autos like Glock? I've never seen brass flakes in my Colt 1911.

Happens to a lot of them. Haven't seen it in my 1911 but have seen it in my ex-3PAT and my ex-Taurus PT111.

Can't tell you about the Glock cuse I don't own one.
