Do AGRIPS Hold Up?

Attached are some photos to answer the question about the durability of AGRIPS. The photo of the leather pocket carry was taken 9/2010 when the Agrip material was first installed. The photo of the PM40 by itself and the PM in the Remora holster was taken today 12/26/2011; 15 months later. The Agrip material is "like new". This gun is carried concealed IWB 95% of the time, all day, in pocket or IWB. I did carry my wife's BG380 on occassion (5% of the time), but now she's confiscated it for herself...she loves it.

Some changes I've made in the installation and carry are that I no longer use my leather pocket carry holster and have since switched to the Remora, which is more comfortable, versatile (can easily be changed from IWP to front or coat pocket). Most frequently carried IWB. Secondly, I no longer have the Agrip material on the 5 round mag base. The Agrip did not hold up on the stainless material well and I simply cold blued the base on that mag. When it starts to get shinny, I cold blue it again. I also changed the way I wrap the Agrip on the 6 round mag bases, by now using a simple one piece wrap. This holds up very well for IDPA practice, buffering the mag drops and greatly enhancing the grip of the pistol.

As an added benefit, the Agrip material keeps the CTL secure and tight by not allowing the CTL to shift side to side as some CTL users have complained.

So there you have some proof - AGRIPS WORK and endure HARD daily carry and use on the range. By the way, so does the CTL and this sweetheart, PM40. They all perform like PERFECTION and wear like IRON.

My AGrips did not last long, less than a year. (On a G30 and MK9)

Talon Grips also failed on MK9, just last month. (Lasted a few years)

I now am using a Hogue Handall Jr on the MK9.

Seems more durable, but only time will tell.

What size did you buy? I looked at the Houge Jr and it looked like it would block the mag release. If you cut yours, did they hold up?

Thanks but I have a PM9. Someone said to install it upside down. I have more looking to do. Quik Grip is probably the best for me. The "search" function leads that to be the best option. BTW> Nice engine turning on your barrel.

Agrips Do Hold Up

Top photo of the PM40 alone was taken in 2010 when the agrips were new 2+ years ago. Bottom photo is 2+ yrs later (shows PM40 and an extra mag). I do not always carry the extended 6 round mag with the plastic bases, because I usually carry IWB with the smaller 5 round mag. I do use the extended mags when I carry OWB on my hip, at the range and for IDPA, so they do get hard wear. My PM40 gets hard use and everything has held up well...including the finish and the Agrip material. I believe the Agrip material on the extended mags do help protect them and make the grip super good, especially on hot sweaty days during competition. Agrips do stick well to the plastic base of the extended (6 rd mags). However, the

Agrip material did NOT stick well to the base of the 5 round mag, so I removed it. I tried to replace it twice, but the small flat base is not shaped in a manner to hold the Agrip material. I believe the trick is to do a very good job with the clean up of the parts you are applying the Agrip material to. The Agrip material works well when it can be "wrapped and overlapped" on the grip and mag bases - curved parts. It does not work well on the very bottom of the base where it is flat. From time to time it will shift in certain high pressure areas. It comes with extra sticky tape material and I have simply reapplied it in those shift areas to resecure the material. Once this is done once, it held well from then on.

Just an update for those considering Agrip material. I happen to love the stuff.

Sorry, I lost count during the first year. I tried to keep track, but it seemed to get useless. I have been reloading for it, so the ammo seems to just keep coming. I also carry this gun every day from the time I dress in the morning to nighty night. It is part of my attire, like pants, shoes, belt, wallet and pocket knife. I dry fire practice with it almost every day for 5-10 minutes too. It is wearing like iron....but I do take care of it and keep it cleaned and lubed with Mil-Comm Products (TW25B oil and synthetic grease). This product really keeps my PM running and protected.

Agrip finally failed

Update - After 3 years of hard use and almost daily carry, the Agrips on my PM40 finally failed . They were installed 9/10 and lasted through today 8/13. The glue on the backing of the material got gooey and the grip started to shift, stretch and pull up in places - particularly down at the mag area on the grip where the grip curves in toward the mag. I had to remove the material off my grip today. However, the agrips on my extended mags are still fine and I will leave them in place. The extended mag agrip wraps are a simple wrap and don't see as much carry wear as the handgun grip which is a bit more complicated a wrap. I usually carry the 5 round mag, so the 6 rounders only see the wear at the range. I don't know if I will replace the agrips right away or not. I may shoot it 'as is' for awhile to see if I like the grip without the agrip material applied.
