slides/frames on TP9 and P9, mine seem to be interchangeable

I picked up a used TP9 today. It's the original frame model w/ shorter grip & frame.

Welcome to the forum and nice find in the TP9. They are fairly rare. Thought this would be a good spot to picture the "new style" TP9. It is differentiated by the longer grip and longer dust cover. I've toyed with the idea of chopping my long grip, but haven't felt the need yet.

Here is a pic of the orig format w/ The 7rnd mag installed and showing the 8rnd mags w/ extender.

Measurements are 6.5" length x right about 4.5 from slide to end of handle (w/ sights it's about 4.75". 4.0" barrel I believe.







The tiles are 5.75 according to my tape.

like urs compared to the outter version. Kinda makes methink they indeed startedout with the TP9 using the P9 lower

Agreed. The orig. looks like P9 frame w/ T9 upper. That said the grip length seem good for my hands w/ out the extension. Pinky fits right on the end. Will know more when I shoot it. :~>

The newer is more flush at the muzzle but the grip is definitely longer.

be all wet on this to. but IMO this gun being u bought it used has had some serious mods done to it. I just think someone bought the T slide and put it on the P frame. Maybe not, but Have u checked with kahr with your photo to see and verify what exactly has changed and about when. it would be intersting to know this...

This is perfectly normal for the original TP9, nothing altered or changed. Here's another photo of one with the extended mag. The original TP was sold with one 7 and one 8 round mag.

The TP changed a few years ago.

Agree on the mags. It looks better w/ the flush 7rnd vs. extended 8rnd mag. I real life use the 7rnd will be std. The 8rnd mag is the backup or range mag.

I'm trying to locate info on what year/serial number the change happened.

Correction: I think the height measurement might be ~4.875" looking at the photos again. I'm really curious what the factory official specs are for the early model TP9.

Kahr is very slow about keeping their webb site up to date. If u look they still show the blunt noxe PM9 PM40- which has not been made for a few years..

Next question! Will the TP barrel fit on the P9 slide and frame? I know it wouldn't give you any more sight radius but it would give a bit more velocity to the P9 or CW9.
