We live in a society of instant gratification. I want it all and I want it now.

They have not been properly disciplined, never ever spanked or switched, never told at 16 to go get a job and start budgeting money for a car, gas, cloths and stuff. The art of parenting is becoming a lost art.
        Very interesting...

Very true. We gripe about the kids so much that we forget someone was supposed to be training them up. I think about all the times I could have been parenting my daughter, but was too busy doing something else.
Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.

The sad thing is when they don't gen enough from the government, they will be out in the streets throwing rocks, turning over cars and starting fires like some of the poor countries are doing now.:80:

Just look at Oakland. It is already happening.

I stopped in a MacDonalds @ noon the other day that was full of high school kids. I could not believe the language the boys & girls were using, loudly! The "F" word was everywhere among other words I would not use in public & I'm no angel!

Our world has become cruder, ruder, and socially unacceptable, at least how I was raised.

I still get weirded out telling an off color joke in front of a lady but I hear young girls with mouths like sailors (sorry Navy vets). It just seems like civility has disappeared. It can't be a good thing, long run.

Part of it, I believe is the removal of personal interaction. Yeah we have Facebook and chats and forums, but the nuance of a face to face conversation seems to be going by the wayside. Instant communication isn't necessarily progress IMHO.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
                      --Thomas Jefferson (1764).

As a parent of 3 (23, 19, and 15.) I will say for a fact that a good part of the problem is the parents. Notice I said a good part, not all, but a good part. You have a few kids with crappy parents that turn out really good, and you have a few kids with excellent parents that turn out bad. Parents now give their kids everything they want. Mine told me one day something like "I have a right to drive. All my friends do." I told him that you have a right to get yourself a job, pay insurance, save some money to buy gas, and then you can talk to me about driving.

Because I do care about mine and their their future I told my 2 oldest (they are boys), you will graduate high school and after that you have 3 choices:
                        1. Get a part time job and co to college full time and you can stay at home until you graduate college.
                        2. get a full time job and get out my house, and start your future.
                        3. Join the military and get out of my house, and start your future.

One graduated college and joined the military because they will repay all of the student loans. The other one joined the military after high school to get in on the GI bill. Both have not been in trouble with the police and have not been involved w/ drugs (the pee test they had to take proved it.) They are respectful other people (and for the most part their parents ) and we treat them with respect.

I'm definitely not the perfect parent (my wife might be) but we put a lot of effort into it.

My last one is a girl and I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Now there are a few real go getter teens out there but most of them think MTV is "Real Life." They need to get a grip or they will have a rude awakening.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Want to see what will be the end of our country as we know it???

Don't blame the kids. Blame their parents... or single parent... or whoever was left to raise them after their fourth divorce. The "family" has become irrelevant in our society. When this country stopped relying on the family unit, it began a steep ride down the slippery slope of self destruction.
But hey, at least we get legal marijuana and American Idol.
