Should be that way here too but unfortunately the state has just become far too liberal.

Long guns are a different story. I can walk into a shop and walked out with a rifle after a quick background check. Only a pistol requires the paperwork and long wait.

Ok enough about the crappy NY laws. Let's talk about how awesome my switch is from the TP9 to the K9!

          Come To Utah

I'm in good old New York state so I actually have to wait a few months before I can even take it home . I should have snapped a picture before leaving the shop to show you guys.

Anyways, just wanted to say hi and get that one question answered. Thanks!
          Antriess:

Not trying to rub it in but Utah isn't New York.

In Utah with my concealed permit I can pack at the State Capital, state owned buildings except secure areas (i.e, jail, secure areas of a police dept, airports) banks, hospitals (except mental) public schools, state owned universities, colleges, State Parks and Federal Parks located in Utah are ok (Thanks George Bush but this is tricky because you can't enter any buildings in the federal park).

Private businesses can post signs but you can't be charged criminal if you refuse to leave when asked you can be charged for trespassing. (Another reason to conceal over open carry) The only exception is my place of worship and federal buildings (I hope no one goes postal on me when I visit the post office for my annual visit for stamps. Email is a wonderful option.)

I hope it works out for you, however if you need a change you are always welcome in my home state Utah. We have great snow skiing, hunting/camping, hiking, river rafting, fishing, water skiing.

Utah is also a right to work state which I believe is one reason we have a very strong economy. Utah government is currently operating with a surplus and our political system is also very conservative.

I think Bush may have started the ball rolling on this, but ultimately conceal carry in national parks was an amendment tacked onto the Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights Act of 2009 which passed the House and Senate and was signed by President Obama. So Bush may have had the idea, but Obama made it law.

I have quite a few colleagues that work remotely in Utah. I love Utah and spent about 2 weeks there last summer on a cross country road tip / ATV adventure. Marysvalle and Moab were two of my favorite places on the entire trip. This 4th of July week I'll be in SLC for our company retreat. Looking forward to it!

I am originally from NY. I never even tried to get a permit up there. Here in NC I just present my CCW permit and that's it. No waiting for phone calls to NICS.

                    Moab is a beautiful place.

I live 30 minutes North of Salt Lake City.

If you get a chance a tram ride at Snowbird ski resort in the summer is a lot of fun and the Alpine Slide at Park City ski resort will get your heart racing. A little pricey but fun steering a sled down a steep mountain slide.

                    Russ

P.S. July 4th week will be little packed on the lakes but send me a private message if you and up to 4 others would be interested in an early morning water skiing trip at Pineview Reservoir (1 hour North of Salt Lake City ) I'll provide the boat life jackets skis tubes.
