  • No fun today ... :-(

Well today is the day that I have long been dreading and I'm sitting here with a rock in my throat and tears in my eyes, but I just have to tell someone. I'm going to have to put my little girl dog down. (Glow) She is a Nowhich Terrior that we adopted from a breeder that bread show dogs. We got her when they were done making money off her. She never had much of a life till we got her. We gave her the best life anyone could possibly give a dog . She has never wanted for anything for the time we have owned her. She is deaf, her eyes are going, and she is just getting to bad with going in the house. She doesn't even know shes doing it. I was with her all day yesterday in the back yard and when I look in her eyes she just looks tired and confused. Like the lights are on but nobodies home. This is a 5th dog I've had to put down in my life and it never seems to get any easier. I barely slept a wink last night and I can't eat today.
I know I have to do this but it still makes me feel like SH**.

Sorry to hear it my friend. The only good side is you have a chance not only to say goodbye, but thank you. They bring so much joy and are constant companions to the end, a true best friend.

    Thoughts are with you,
    Chris

I am so sorry Popeye, I can imagine very well how you feel right now; I have been there several times and it was always the same horrible experience. That is not an easy decision to make. I know it is easy for me to say, but try to be strong and remember that thanks to you she had a very nice life. Hang in there my friend.

Very, very sorry for you. I have a tear in my eye as I write this. I dread the day we lose our "kids". Remember though, all dogs go to heaven. I really believe that.

I'm so sorry popeye! Just reading that n thinking of my "best friend" (11yr old lab) puts a tear n my eye n a lump in my throat. At least u gave her what she needed. A great life n a great friend! I know there's nothing we can really do here to make it easier, but I know ur fellow karh n dog lovers will do our best to get u through. Keep ur chin up n think of the good times!

Popeye, to quote you... " She never had much of a life till we got her. We gave her the best life anyone could possibly give a dog . She has never wanted for anything for the time we have owned her. "

Written by a true animal lover ( ^ ). She will unquestionably rest in peace. Find strength in knowing you did your job well!!!

Glow (beautiful name) and you will be in my thoughts. Reminded me of the two GSDs we have had to do that to.

This may be a bit corny, but it helped me: http://petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm

My brother (now 80) recently had to put down his toy fox terrier (14+) (Jackie) who was in the same sad state. He had raised him from a pup and he was his constant companion. But the dog was suffering, so it was time. It's a part of responsible and loving pet ownership, so you're doing the right thing. Be comforted in that you are relieving her suffering, and know that you will always have fond memories of her.
                  Very interesting...

All we, as pet owners, can do is give them the best life on earth we can while they are with us. Sounds like you did that, so rest easy.

My condolences Popeye, I had to put down my little terrier Blackie after he ran under the wheel of my 4x4 and got his back end ran over, he was so excited to see me after a couple days being gone. I didn't have the money for the surgeries to fix him so had him put down. I was pretty miserable about the whole thing. Took me a long time to want another dog, but found a little blue heeler pup that is working out pretty well.

Im sorry, Popeye. Find peace in knowing you have given her a better life than she ever would have known otherwise. I wish she could tell you how grateful she is for you.

We have a copy of the rainbow bridge hanging on the fridge for my old Pyronese friend, Bart...I recommend it, it will make you smile on those gray-rainy days.

I am very sorry about your friend, I feel a very heavy sadness when I hear this type of news. We have three dogs of our own and I dread the day when their time has come. Dogs are wonderful creatures. You gave this dog a nice life, try to hang onto the good stuff and know that you are doing the right thing by relieving suffering and letting you friend pass peacefully.

I am sorry, I know what you feel. I've had to put one down in my life, I've never owned another.
