  • I'm Going To Teach Handgun Safety

Been thinking about it a long time, so it's time to actually do it.

LOT of people buying handguns around here locally, and God bless'em, some have no clue what to do with them.

So, it's not going to be about self defense or home defense, just how to be safe, operate, and secure a handgun.

What do my compadres here think about it?

Its definitely needed. You have your own facility or have to rely on another party?

I'd be down but it's a far piece to Texas from Washington.

I'm pondering a relocation, maybe we'll be neighbors and then I'll sign up.

I wish you good luck. Hope it works out well for you and your students.

        Thanks

I've partnered with two local ranges, one public indoor and another private club.

        Both have A/C training facilities!

One tiny detail that jumped out at me while reading your website: This should be "Small classes ensure . . . " as in make certain, rather than "insure" which is . . . well, insurance, like for your car or for personal liability.

Speaking of insurance, do you think you will need any? How do the ranges you are planning to work with feel about that issue? Here, hold this wet blanket . . .
            Thanks!

Wifey is fixing that typo right now.

And, yes, I purchased the commercial liability insurance thru the NRA.

The private club requires them being listed as a named insured, so it's not really a problem.

Several guys I know have tried that & or CCW permits training & found the insurance to be too expensive. One instructor told me you have to have $1,000,000 of liability insurance. That may just be here in Az. tho.

All I want to know is how in the hell did you get so gosh darn good looking. You take some sort of supplements or something?

I've always prided myself on my natural charm and good looks but you are one handsome dude. Not in any mano mano kind of way you understand, but in a room full of future cyber brides they might just look at you first.

                    What's your secret.

A little TV time like that can't be a bad thing for you either. Go for it.

It's great to see somebody put what they want to do into action. I can tell you that Doc will definitely teach them well about hearing protection. He sent me some plugs that got me wearing plugs again. They are ear screws that you squeeze in and twist. They are the first ones that I can tell work.

Good luck Doc, glad you are off to a good start.

Best of luck to you doc! I was a young hunter safety instructor for several years, and I got a lot of satisfaction out of helping kids understand how firearms work, and how to safely fire them. I got sick and let my license expire, and never did renew it.
I almost think something like this should me mandatory for first time gun buyers, but I hate to see any laws passed regarding it, we have too many gun laws already.
Maybe instead you could offer a discount to new gun owners for your class or something. Maybe you could get in with some LGS's and see what you can work out with the owner about including a coupon or business card with each handgun purchase. I think you are doing a good thing, that might end up saving some lives.
Some people go buy a gun and some ammo for it, then put it up somewhere, in case they ever need it, and never practice with it.

                              All good ideas, thanks!

I plan on working with local churches to underwrite some of their members who might not be able to afford training.
