They occasionally show up on the correct side of some issues and situations...but I agree w/ Jerry, it's only when they can further their left-wing cause that they do this. In those cases, it's a farce on their part. They are a blight on society.

Bob, they started before WW1 to promote their cause. After the war, they changed their name because they were catching too much flak. Remember, that was when Lenin was just consolidating control of Russia and we actually had troops in Russia to try to help the Imperial Russian forces.

They exist on private donations but mostly on gov. funding,ya our tax dollars. There is an ammenment that gives the ACLU all the money they spend back if they win the case. Strike the ammendment and they go away . The Southern Poverty Law group is in the same boat, just rowing a little harder.

Generally I despise the causes they support. However every one in a great while they are on the correct side of the issue. Oddly enough one of the co-founders of the ACLU, Morris Ernst was a great support of J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI in the 40's thru the 70's.

Politics sometimes makes for strange bedfellows.

My problem with the ACLU is, when they pick their battles, they seem to pass over those battles that have to do with 2A.

Of course, that is just an oversight...right?
