When the U.S embassy is attacked isnt that an attack on the U.S? If so why doesnt our guards there start putting guys on their backs when they attack? Or is it better to let them destroy the embassy and get it out of their system? What happened to protesting in front of one? Isnt that just as effective and actually more diplomatic?

Yes, we must not "offend" our "Peace-Loving" Muslim "Allies"... Allies being a STRETCH!
Back in the 60's I did a few courier runs on Okinawa... required being armed for the TS Classified. I had the S&W Combat Masterpiece with one cylinder full of .38 FMJ. I carried mine in the cylinder, NOT in my pocket, like I think we were expected to do.

The assassination in Libya was not sporatic. It was planned using intelligence. The riot was an excuse, and it had little to nothing to do with that silly movie. It was a 9/11 Osama revenge thing. They are sending some troops to defend the embassy in Yemen.
This new UN blasphemy law proposal is a scary thing. It would put the power of govt and religious leaders to prosecute anyone practicing "defamation of religion", which is a direct conflict of our Constitution. And, of course, you know it would be used mainly to protect Islam. Christian bashing is cool and trendy. Bashing Islam is not "PC"

No Ammo
Yesterday on talk radio they were saying that the Marines did not have bullets for their guns. I agree with the OP that it should be viewed as an attack on US soil.
I bet the Russians would have laid some people out if the same thing had happened to them. I don't think the US has the gonads (or at least this administration) to deal with the repercussions of arming the troops. Too much political correctness in play.
On the other hand, a scenario like that could get out of hand quickly like a Mogadishu situation. I don't know if we would have the numbers to hold off the hoarde without reinforcements. I can't comment on how far away more troops would be and how fast they could come in to help stabilize the situation.
It does seem like making an example of a few of these embassy crashers would send a better message than apologizing for it. The actions of this administration (apologizing, not fighting back, not arming the troops) sends the message that we don't have any self respect or respect for our own people.
That's just my opinion of course

I agree w/ Les on both points. One, the attack was NOT a protest. At best, it was some folks whipped into a frenzy (i.e. used) so militant terrorist cruds could kill. At worst, it was all coordinated, protest, attack, everything, so militant terrorist cruds could kill. Protestors throw rocks and molotov cocktails, not shoot RPGs, carry firearms, and kill people. People calling this a protest are just trying to further the apologist position the left and progressives have taken in this country and pump up a pile of crazy people vs the sane free world.
The other point, the reverse treatment of religions. Take a couple actors, dress them up as Jesus and Mohammad. Have one give the other a swirly in the closest toilet. Then do the reverse. One will end up being called free speech, art, and result in people talking about how stupid Christianity is in the first place. The second will end up in world outcry and the mistreatment of that religion, violent protests, and some dead people, followed by how wonderful and peaceful Islam is.
You tell me who the whack jobs are and who the tolerant people are!

The embassy is national property of the occupier and therefore an attack on the country of the USA. Those countries with mutual defense treaties are obligated to respond to defend the embassy not just after the fact press conferences.
If the Israeli embassy were attacked here (it has been) we would and did respond with aggression. It was bombed in this case so no time to deploy but we would have. Note this is what I recall from the past and may not apply to the current administration.•"Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end." - O. L.

Stack some A-10s on orbit and keep an AC-130U gunship on station. Next tell the bad actor countries, "You handle and control your folks or we will".
What happend in Libya was an Attack, the whipped up crowd was a smoke screen/human sheild. I do not fault the admin for not knowing of the attack before hand.
But now they know, no more excusses. Defend our people or pull-um out and NUKE the place...
... too strong??? Not feeling to PC right now.I was once asked if I was "a paranoid for carrying my Kahr".
"Nope" I said, "just prepared".
" prepared for what" he asked?
"more stuff than you are"

I can just see any Muslim country allowing that.Originally posted by Planedude View PostStack some A-10s on orbit and keep an AC-130U gunship on station. Next tell the bad actor countries, "You handle and control your folks or we will".

From what I hear, we knew an attack of some kind was coming on the anniversary of 9/11. Word is that Obama went to bed with the attack in progress and was sound asleep when the ambassador was killed. He didn't really care since it wasn't happening to him.

There is some talk that it's part of an ongoing effort to get countries to criminalize the insulting or defamtion of Mohammed. They want it to be a crime to depict Mohommed and muslims in anything but a favorable way. I suppose Obama will bend over and kiss their behinds and lose some more of our 1st admendment rights.Tom
