  • My Wife Overcame the Fear

My wife finally went to the range and shot handguns. This was a major issue for her and it went off without a hitch. I have posted on the site about trying to get her to shoot and had good advice, but it came down to her finally wanting to go on her own. I had stopped begging. She has always liked the fact that I get into guns, but now we can share the passion.

She started with the Walther P22, went to Kahr P380 and finished with Kahr MK9. She was motivated to shoot the MK9, because it is a gift for her dad. When I asked if she wanted to shoot the PM45, she gave the the look and said, "I think I've done pretty well." She did and it was awesome.

Nothing like watching a personal victory!

Or do like I do and sleep with your upper body in a garbage can. Makes it harder for her to get a good head shot. Not 100% reliable but it can't hurt.

Definitely the "Top Cat" style can. I think even the super powerful man stopper wonder 9 would penetrate them plastic "geek" style cans.
I think they bounce off the "Top Cat" style.

The acoustics aren't great though, kind of tinny in a tin can kind of way, no offense Tinman.

I'm actually kind of shopping for one, an MK. I can shop real good when I got no money. I need it to whittle some grips for people on. I figured I can even work with it loaded. If it goes off it might leave a mark but probably won't hurt much.

Gonna make sure my glasses are up to date so I make sure I don't load it with 380 by mistake.

I wanna be your first, Bawanna. Well-made MK9 grips that is. At least with the 9, you will have a few more ADs to do some damage in case you lose bodily control.

You know it suddenly occurred to me that my wife was always reluctant to shoot too. It was finally on a day of running logging roads just the two of us that she asked to shoot. She just didn't want to shoot when anyone else was around.

That might be something for us guys trying to get our ladies shooting to think on, maybe a place off to yourself will help them.

Mine shot over on vacation with others around so she's apparently over that shyness.

I'll let ya know when an MK shows up and we'll whittle. I got mixed emotions some, they are kind of tough, lots of surfaces on the inside that show up in the mag well and they gotta be right or they are wrong and that of course wouldn't be right. ??????

I've actually made several K9 and MK9 grips on an early version for people here at work and my K40. So there's really only one first and we're past that, course you could be first with the "Newer" MK.

My sister told me that she wanted to learn how to shoot. I took her to the range and she had a ball. I started her with the P380, moved up to the CM9 and finished with her off with my 1911 Gold Cup. You guessed it, she liked the 1911 best. When she first started shooting she tried to get as far away from the gun as possible. When she discovered that it wasn't going to hurt her she really started to lean into it. I think that I may have created a monster.
