Fairly certain it was a DDG as I don't think there is an FFG left in the fleet. Possibly a CG. Not sure on what firearm was used but again, fairly certain, it was of the 5.56 variety.

Distance was about 75 meters, give or take. Truly not just one amazing shot but three simultaneous shots from one moving platform to another.
All three shots delivered with deadly accuracy.

I thought they were 50 cal sniper bolt rifles. I remember the 3 simultaneous shots and they said the swells were a real challenge as I can well imagine.

I don't know ship designations so I'll let you swabbies duke it out on that part. Good shooting regardless of the tools or the platform.

Dietrich: For a fat girl you sure don't sweat much.

When I was on my nugget cruise on the Saratoga in the Med right after getting out of flight school, we use to shoot from the boat. We would go to the armory and check out Thompsons and all the 45 ACP we could carry and take them to the open area at the rear of the hanger deck where they tested jet engines. [fantail on most ships] We would then throw things into the wake and shoot at them. Not many hits but a lot of fun. I can just see doing that today in the "corporate Navy".

You're right, they shot from a Destroyer, and probably used modified M14's, but it could have been some variant of the 16.

Don't know if the lights and electricity and all that runs on nuclear stuff to or not. Man might glow in the dark being on it for too long.

Definitely need gas for the lawn mower. Mine don't run on that other stuff.
They are fueled with uranium and the initial load out will last for about twenty years. All power on the boat comes from the reactors. Unless something goes seriously sideways, the radiation in the engine spaces is probably lower than the ambient radiation you're picking up right now.

Like I said, if you know the right people, you can still have some fun

After a quick search I found it was a DDG (destroyer) and 3 simultaneous head shots on a rolling sea. Legendary.

Back on topic, those three guys and their team are more dangerous than that Chinese carrier:84:
