  • S&W Shield, Springfield XDS or Kahr

I own a Kahr P9, Kahr PM9 and the Kahr P380. I also own a Glock 19 and 26 that I love but don't carry because they are double stacked. My hobby is guns and I'm always on the lookout for a single stack that can Compete and Better anything I own made by Kahr.
Can somebody convince me there is something on the market that is better than what I already have or has Kahr brought an end to my searching for something better.

Oh no you won't. You're not gonna drag us into fueling your addiction. We're all dealing with our own problems.

Demand exceeds supply for the Shield. In my area, it's a 2-3 month wait. So the Shield isn't going to provide a quick fix.

The XDS is also in high demand, but I was able to view one at a LGS. Very nice. SA does a great job with their polymer frames. So if you need to buy something new NOW, this could be the one.

I don't believe any of us "gun nuts" will ever stop searching. They're like the latest club to a golfer... Gotta have the latest or best not to mention just the pleasure most of us get out of handeling and firing a new weapon. As far as the Kahr being the best. Not sure. I have in my possession my first Kahr (CM9) and I've run about 50 rounds through it and was planning on a couple of hundred more his weekend but "Sandy" is messing the weather up here in the Carolina's. I've narrowed my choice down to two LC9 and CM. I hope to make decision by first of week. Will fill you in once I decide. Meanwhile keep checking em all out otherwise you'll be missing lots of fun!

                All three are fine guns.
You almost have to own them to really find out which you favor.
Like others have said S&W 9mm Shields are hard to come by.
I can get an XDs any day of the week at several LGSs.
There is some contingent waiting for a 9mm version of that gun.

One you haven't mentioned, that I think is worth a look?

I own the K9 and have shot both the Shield and XDs.

The XDs was my least favorite, it just didn't fit good in my hand. But, that was without a grip extension. My tune would probably change if i shot it again with one. So I'm still on the bubble on this one.

For the money, and because its also plastic, the 9mm Shield is hands down the best gun on the market. That doesn't mean it's the best gun out there just that its a great buy for the price. It shot everything I put through it, it felt good in my hand, the trigger was smooth, and it concealed great. That said, I still would not trade my K9 for it. I have not found a small 9mm (all steel) that can beat this guy out.

I have and like the Kahrs's and the XDS. Unlike many the XDS fits my hand great. I have fired the Shield and was not positively impressed.

I prefer simplicity in a self defense handgun. Id go with kahr of the ones youve listed.

You are correct. I'll probably keep searching for something better because I am a "gun nut" too.
In the past I have stayed away from the 40Cal because of the recoil but was impressed with how manageable it was with my friends 40cal Shield. I've seen a couple of U-Tube videos of the Springfield XDS that had some problems but not surprising since the gun is new on the market. I sent an email to Springfield and they said the XDS 9mm would be out early in 2013.

I think it depends on which trigger system you prefer. I like my PM9 because it is very similar to my 340PD DA revolver.
