  • Gun lube?

I have Tetra gun grease. Do you think that's good stuff for the rails or is there better stuff? What do you think about using anti- seize?

What? I think anti- seize would be good. It works from -65 to 1600 F degrees

          Ballistol

          Used Militec-1 for a while.
          Then switched to Ballistol.

I use Slide Glide I bought about 5 years ago. If I ever run out, I'll probably start using the Mobile 1 or Lucas Red-n-Tacky.

                Finally arrived at FL because...

rdh04,... to begin, you have started a post that is going to get a wide range of opinions. I will comment from two different applications: range/HD gun vs. CC gun.

If you are intending for your gun to be for range and/or home defense use, then use whatever works for you and, most importantly, your gun. I have used Tetra Lube in the past and it is an excellent grease that holds better than oils or other lower viscosity greases. If you gun runs perfect with it, use it... it is great stuff in my opinion. Just keep in mind that you will need some other lube (oil or synthetic) to protect your gun from rust and to lube smaller wear points.

If you want a lube for a concealed carry gun, then I highly recommend Frog Lube. Aside from it working just fine as a lube/protectant, it is a "drier lube" than other conventional oils/greases/synthetics. When holstering a gun on your person, your body emits heat and I have found that conventional petro-base lubes breakdown and run onto your clothing/holster. This is the main reason why I have gone to FL... less mess. And I also might add that I have gone to FL for all of my guns (HD, Range, and CC) because it just plain works. And honestly, I had a few fickle guns (mostly .22s) that would occasionally FTF/FTE when I used oil/greases,... but when I switch over the FL, they have been running flawlessly ever since.

So in final... just use whatever works for you and your gun(s). Guns are like tools,... take care of them and they will serve you for a lifetime.

Man if you don't use xxxx you're nuts! I've been using TW25 from the beginning just because Jocko said to. It seems to work well and I like it. Hickok45 uses Balistol and says it's good. I don't think it's terribly critical to use a specific brand but read up on whatever you consider. Well, I didn't do that but if you can't trust Jocko who can you trust.

That notch in the rail is supposed to be there

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
                    --Thomas Jefferson (1764).

dsefinitely a sheep guy, that goat shop was in my earlier days, when I was just gettin started. alot more goats around my area. Italians liked goats for they could be milked and eaten. Sheep as u well know, wellI won't get into that.

Ihad my calling early i live getsome, I took a test when I was a senior that kinda depicted what u would be doin inur later life and the tests showed, I was born to be a sheepherder, so I went out west in my earlier years and worked as a sheepherder in the muntains. lived for 2 years in one of those covered wagons, very lonely. ended up marrying 6 sheep (it was alllowed back in those days). Had a dog named horny. He later ran off with 4 sheep. Lil bastard...U can't trust a dog around 6000 sheep. They think they own um all, Lil bastard.
