Since this is my first pistol, I'm not sure if I've gone overboard or not... I currently have 6 mags. How many mags (max) do you have for any one pistol?

Most of my handguns I had a minimum of six.
Three for carry that stay loaded with SD ammo.
And three for the range.
But with Obummer attacking?
I've stocked up on additional high cap mags for most of my pistols.

I like to have 5 mags for each Glock since I compete with them.Yes, I am a gun lovin' woman!

I like to have at least 6 for any pistol that I carry from time to time. I like one in the gun and 2 spares. The other 3 rest. I used to swap about once a month, don't do that nearly as often anymore, I just have a lot more faith in springs these days.
That being said I don't think it's possible to have too many magazines.
Loaded magazines stacked from here to the horizon and back is a beautiful sight.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

I had to average it out. I have 4 for my TP9. I used to have 3 each for the TP9 and P9. Since I no longer really carry the P9, I converted the 8 round extended over to be used in the TP9 and so I only have 2 mags for the P9 now.
I have 8 for my Sig P250.
But overall, I think it's good to have at least 4-6 for any given gun. More is always better though.

I have about 5 for each gun. 3 with SD ammo and 2 fir later. At the range it is also nice to have 5, especially with my single stack Kahrs. I got tired of reloading the only two that came with the gun. I also like to have 5 for my Glocks too.

The sum of all my handgun mags, divided by the number of semi-automatic handguns I own = 3.8
For one particular gun I only have 1, for another just 2, but mostly 3 - 4 for each of the rest, with no more than 5 for any unique mag type.
I really don't understand the need to have piles and piles of mags. I can understand having a few spares, but I'd rather use my money - and storage space - for guns and ammo.
Yes, I need to reload when I go out shooting. I actually *like* that, because it paces me. My object is never to rip off a huge number of rounds in minimum time, so reloading prolongs the pleasure. But I never shoot at public indoor ranges and I have an UpLULA, so that might make things different.
This question has come up on some (all?) other gun boards from time to time. Recently on another board one of the senior members flatly asserted that 50 was the optimal number.
It's a free country. I've found that 3 is about right for me, for handguns at least."Measure twice, cut once. Think twice, speak once."

I answered seven but it's all kinda confused. I accidentally seem to have acquired seven mags for my G23. But they'll also fit my G27 for which I have four. So is that 11 for the G27. And then there's my current count eight or nine 1911 .45s. Figure maybe 40 or so mags lying around after 50 years that will fit any of them? More if catering to the short handled.NRA Benefactor

We currently have three Kahr 9mm handguns in the house and I have ten mags that fit those handguns. Generally we employ two of those handguns and carry two spare mags per handgun employed. However my wife has a holster with a single mag holder integral and thus she normally carries one reload. On occasion I or my son will carry the second double mag pouch as well as our normal loadout.
I would say that five mags per handgun is a good number.

My Glock 19 is my only "hi-cap" pistol. For that one I have the two 10-round mags it came with (I've had it since 2002), 6 standard capacity 15 round mags, and 1 of the 33 round mags (just because).
Some of those are recent acquisitions, and I may add some more. However, I realize that keeping pace with some folks on the mag wars is just impossible.NRA Benefactor Life Member

I have 3 mags for each of my semi-auto pistols, and I have two speed loaders for my J-frame. I run on a tight budget and that number seems right. I generally keep one mag empty and I use it to lock the slide back when I need to at home. (My crippled hands can't manage to rack the slide and push the lever up at the same time.) Before I go to the range, I fill those empty mags, as well.Very interesting...
