I hunt alot and spend from sun up until sun down in the mountians many days looking for, shooting, cleaning, and packing out, my Elk.

I always carry plenty of water and a Gatorade in a bottle. I have jerky, a sandwich. Usually a meat and cheese samich, an apple or an orange and about 15 trick or treat milky ways. fast energy when I need it and it tastes great. Gummy snake would work too I bet.

Energy bars taste like butt to me and Granola is for the birds....literally.

If I get one and have to pack I never have enough water.

Dang, maybe it's not too late. You got room for one more down south there? Actually wouldn't be a yankee transplant, more like a return to his roots good ole boy. But it's been a long long time. Definitely have to work on polishing my manners some. If it helps I've used them gummi snakes on bass, lord knows I ain't got the teeth to eat the darn things myself. I'm totally legal like, born in the geopraphical center of the USA, that would be Missouri (not misery) for you folks what don't read maps good.
Let me know, I'll start packin and don't run out of them frozen diaquiri's, don't honestly know what one is but sounds good and goes well with beer?

Elk in Minnisota? I never knew, guess I never thought about it. You got Moose? Got an officer here from there that hunted and goes back sometimes and hunts deer.

Another question for the true gourmets here. What wine goes best with potted meat? I usually have a can or two left over at the end of the day and I like to provide a small soiree for the guys when the hunting is done.
In the area in which I now reside, when I`m placed in a group of four or five guys,I`m known as "the smart one".God help me.

Come on down Bawanna, love to have ya.....I don't think a frozen diaquiri would go with beer too well but it would be colorful when it came back out!!! The Panama City thing to do for us po rednecks is to buy a 12 pack of beer, drink it all in the shortest time possible then use the empty box for a hat so your head doesn't get sunburned when you pass out on the beach....:001_tt2:

Yall always trying to trip me up on them fancy big made up words, who ever heard a odiferous. I think there was a movie in the old days with a name like that though, odiferous and esctasy, I think it was kind of a modern day take on Old Yeller, but I might not be remembering right.

Getsome--Howdy. I am an unreconstructed southern fire-eater. We just installed a statue of Gen. Joseph E. Johnston up here to commemorate his attempt to stop Sherman at Bentonville Battleground.

Well forget them diaquiri thingy's, sign me up for that empty beer box hat party. I can do that! I'll have to practice up some, been awhile. As I recall in some of my visits to uncles and such we did much the same thing with kegs. Kegs don't make too good a hat and sometimes we woke up very very fried, I recall waking up early in the middle of a hard night in the cab of a John Deere tractor, never did figure how I got there, must have been anxious to work or something.

Granted Southwest Missouri has nothing on the Rocky's but when you're riding up a half mile long trail, about a 45 degree incline of loose rocks and roots, it can be a bit more winding than it seems. Around here the rides aren't more than an hour or so, so food is uneeded. But if you head into Arkansas to ride one of the 45 mile loops in the Ozark Mountains, food becomes much more important.....

I remember rafting down in Lake of the Ozarks? Down south. Not much on details but I remember it was a blast.

Do we have elk in MN? It doesn't matter because we have trucks in MN ...... we drive them to Montana. Then we hunt elk. MN has a lot of good hunting Elk is too scarce here for me.
