    CCW in place of worship

I would if our church wasn't on school property, which is prohibited.

A few of churches have already been shot up. I carry everywhere except where metal detectors are present. The key word here is concealed. The Lord protects those who protect themselves, or something to that effect.

The saying (I think you are going for) is, "God HELPS those who HELP themselves" BTW I believe this statement is nowhere in the Bible.

I took poetic license. So, sue me. I turned all of my swords into plowshares, but I hung on to my guns. I'm my brother's keeper.

That's Old Testament baby! I sold my plowshare for a coat, then sold my coat for a sword. Guns aren't mentioned, so I can only assume I can have as many as I want.

On those rare occasions when I go there, the answer is yes.

Not in Ohio, it is not legal to carry in a place of worship. Nor on any school property, government office or postal facility, includeing the parking lot.
But then again, about a month ago near Cleveland a man shot his father comeing out of church, then walked inside while many perishiners were trying to hide from him because they had no other way out except the front door. I'll bet they consider a back door now.

I met and prayed with folks who were at Wedgwood Baptist Church in September 1999. It never should happen, but crazy knows no social bounds.

Texas law is such on the subject that it is allowed unless otherwise properly posted to be not allowed ( sec. 30.06 ). So I do most Sundays and pray that it is never an issue at our small church services (60 to 70 wonderful folks). Not sure if there are others also, but I would not be shocked to find I was not alone.
did texas change there law on cc in places of worship? i've had my cc going on 3 yrs now, i was under the assumption that we couldn't.

Absolutely! There are several LEOs in our church and we are all prepared to protect our church.

either you had a poor instructor. or didn't listen in class. If I remember right, the "change" was made in either 2005 or 2007. Get out your copy of the handbook, read through the list of places declared "off limits", and keep reading down to "Item I" and you will find the exceptions. The exceptions include not only churches but hospitals, amusement parks, nursing homes, government meetings ..... unless properly posted under 30.06.

There's a whole lot of responsibility that comes with carrying a weapon, and the responsibility of staying abreast of the carry law falls to the individual. Every two years we have the potential to see changes in our carry laws...some good, some not so good. For our own good, we need to stay informed and up to date.

If you're interested in really digging into Texas specific laws and issues, you might want to check out texaschlforum.com, as the gentleman that owns and admins the site (Charles Cotton) is a Texas attorney that played a major role in writing the original CHL legislation (starting back in the late 1980's) and is still playing a major role.
