I keep the GPS off all the time on my cell. I have a Garmin and a Tomtom if I get desperate.

I use a digital camera to take my photos. I thought all new phones had that locating feature built in. I have a "dumb" phone, but it has a location setting. I can set it to All or 911 calls only. I left in on 911 only I figure that might be useful in case of a wreck or something where I didn't know my exact location. It has no setting to turn it off.

I think starting in 2014, cars will have this built in also. With no way to shut if off. They will probably wire it in in such a way, that the car won't function if you mess with it. Someone will probably come out with a dummy box you can put in it's place. I forget if this is a way to track you, or if they can use it to disable all cars in an area.

Yeah, but other than the internet and cell phones, none of it's essential. Come to think of it, though, ARPANET predates the '80s. So, none of it's essential.
