A lot of plastic stuff on the express is steel or alloy on the police one. Your tooth fairy leaves you guns??? I wanna live where you live.
The polymer parts on an a wood stocked Express are the trigger housing and the magazine spring retainer.
There is an 870 Express Tactical: Pump Action Shotgun - Model 870 Express Tactical - Remington Shotguns
Here is an excellent article on the differences between the Express and the Police model: http://www.remingtonmilitary.com/art...Pol6-30-05.pdf
All that said, I have a slightly upgraded 870 Express as one of the house guns: the other is a Maverick 88.
BTW: for my shopping spree I want a S&W model 41 with both barrel lengths

Mossberg, Remington and even the 1200/1300 from Winchester are fine shotguns, that will serve you very well. Don't underestimate the side by side or the single barrel breach break either, and some training. NEF has a clone of the Remington 870 for half the price, and anything that fits the 870 fits that. Charles Daly has a clone of the 500 series Mossberg (no tang safety as one the later 590). 12 gauge is in my book the way to go for a number of reasons. Things I would recommend for a home defense scattergun: under magazine rail clamp and a light to go with it (cheaper than dirt), magazine extension if at all possible, side saddle shell carrier if possible, a butt cuff shell holder if possible, a 25 round ring sling (cheaper than dirt) if possible. I also say that if a repeater is going to be used, get a pump, with dual slide bars and a three inch chamber. Don't forget that patterns will be smaller than you think at those ranges, and that bird shot at those same ranges has been known to take meat off the bone, while not going through sheet rock (something to consider). Personally I wish rock salt wasn't as frowned upon as it is. My Charles Daly is loaded like this empty pipe, 7.5 bird shot, 6 bird shot 00 buck 00 buck and a three inch 000 buck. The butt cuff has five of those 000 bucks on it. Also if you can mount a dot sight on it do so and don't look back...those things work better than you'd think on a shotgun, and are fast enough to shoot hand thrown clays. I'll tell you later what I'm about to build my wife.Attitude: it takes 43 muscles to frown, 17 to smile...and 3 for proper trigger squeeze.
The olive branch is considered a symbol of peace, and good will. Last time I checked, it's still a switch.

Well let me see if I have this straight, I get $1000 dollars so my first thoughts is the wife will take her half leaving me with $500 LOL! and since I have about $150 in my pocket for a new total of $650 I would think I would purchase a Citadel M-1911 Concealed Carry. I have been looking one of these for a while and have been very impressed for the money and the with all of the good reviews I have found as well.Tony,

First off, I'll probably increase my toy money by selling my perfectly functional PM9.. $500? (so I got $1500 toy money)
Shopping list:
1. Springfield EMP9 ~$900
2. CZ .22 cadet kit ~$300
3. One of my CZ452 can use a scope .. Leupold VXII or III
I will also sell the HBE Pro-TL separately from the PM9 for another HBE Pro-TL for the EMP.. LOL
