I'm on my 3rd wrangler now and also had a Grand Cherokee. They really have come a long way since their beginning. Can't ever see me without one. Love the feeling that you can go just about anywhere anytime if needed or just cruising the parkway or beach with the top down on a nice summer day. very coolThe only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

back I florida in my younger years I had a great jeep. A v-6 cj-6 4 speed,warn overdrive, dana44's rear with posi and limited slip in the front with 4.88s gear with firestone 9.00-16's or a set of 36" monster mudders back then. Big tires for the day. That thing would go all most anywhere and the over drive made it almost respectable on the highway.
What jeep has turned into today has got'n to heavy, to large and to costly when set up for real off road use today. And I would hate to take a new one in water like we use to.
One of our 4x4 club had a M38A1 in mil spec condition and was the only one that could shut off underwater and let it sit there. Get back in hit the starter peddle and drive on. All of us were heavily water proofed and snorkeled but only that jeep could stay under water for any amount of time just sitting there.
A man up here in NC that's now in his late 80's has a very nice cj2a that has sat in his shed barn with other old farm tools and has not been drove in the 17 years we have been in NC and will not sell it. It would a nice jeep with some brake upgrades for local use. aaa the good ole days.

I had an 86 Jeep Comanche pickup which was the last year American Motors made Jeeps....It was a great little truck but was a conglomeration of parts put together to make one vechile...It had a GM "Iron Duke" 4 cylinder engine with a Ford intake/carburetor, a Chrysler ignition system, a Japanese transmission/hydraulic clutch and a Ford rear end....Kinda like that Johnny Cash song....I got a 49 50 51 52 53 54 55 56 57 58 59 automobile....
