I just posted this recently...."Duck Commando - Phil R". Mostly ignored. It was a surprise to me too.

I have a friend I have known for decades that grew up just down the river so to speak from them and knew them since everybody was poor. Yeah a lot of folks are unaware of that. Surprisingly Phil has mentioned it several times on the show and so has Terry on sports broadcasts.

I remember Michael Jordan saying in an interview one time that there were a lot of basketball players that were better than he was but he had the commitment to the game that others didn't have.

I think it works that way in life for lots of things. WE can have lots of talent but if we don't have the commitment it's not going to go very far.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Heard the same thing. Commitment trumps talent every time.

Good point. Seems that Phil loved the outdoors more than football. Must have seen something in the sport that he couldn't live with. Who knows? Good point.

Phil mentioned it in his book "Happy Happy Happy" which surprised me and turned out to be a very good read....Phil said of Terry Bradshaw, Man have you seen him lately? He can hardly walk...Football is a game where angry 300 lb men try to bury the quarterback every play and sooner or later they do...He said he decided that wasn't for him and he would rather be healthy enough in his later years to hunt, fish and enjoy his family...I would also bet that at this point in his life he probably has more money than Terry and never has to work another day if he doesn't want to...Smart man IMHO....

From what I've read and saw him on a vid saying he left football for drinking/drugs, not ducks.
I apologize if my post contains the same or similar information as someone who has posted before me.

                    Phil made the smartest choice.
