Hello all, I'm new as of midnite tonite after finding this forum. I own two PM45s and am having trouble with disassembly of the used one I just bought which actually appeared unfired in the box with all papers. Problem is after ligning up the slide stop and removing it, and next pulling the trigger and releasing it the slide moves forward almost one quarter inch but will not slide off. It shoots flawlessly but I want to take it down and clean and lubricate it and can't. Again I've followed the instructions for the PM, alligning the two marks and removing the slide stop with no problems. Next I pull the trigger allowing it to fire then moving the trigger slowly forward all the way at which time the slide jumps ahead that quarter inch but will not come off the rail. I'm hoping the original owner did not break something internally but it's odd that it fires perfectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks John

Mine sometimes doesn't want to slide off too easily. I usually have to work the trigger a little bit to get it to slide off. I sometimes have to do that to get it on too. If your getting the take down pin out, working the trigger some while putting a little pressure forward should hopefully get it off.

First thing, don't panic. Second thing, don't wallop the snot out of it with a hammer. I too, have trouble getting mine off on occasion. Like Bawanna, I just play with it a little. We are talking guns here aren't we?

The disks on the recoil spring guide were digging a bit into the plastic of the frame. My PM40 would get this way occasionally and not slide off easily.
You might turn the gun over and lightly tap it into your open hand. To help seat the guide into the notch at the back of the barrel. Perhaps lots of lube would help.
The top central area of the plastic (under the spring) was a bit chewed up looking on my weapon. I have polished the disk edges and all is well. No more roughness or wear.
At least that is how I was able to fix my gun.
Edit: yeah trigger jiggling. Maybe with the gun in various positions.“If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.”

listen to the colonel on this subject. HJe is dead on target. The slide most of the time just does not slide off without any hindrance. It is what it is. PUll the trigger at the sdme time ur pull the slide off and it will slide right off. Tricks to the trade cost nuttin on this forum. Just sayin. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border
