  • Having fun in the sun between downpours

Our 10 yr. old grand daughter slept over Friday night so on Saturday she wanted to shoot.
So when the sun shone between torrential down pours out here, we played in the sun.
She mentioned that she would like to compete like her dad and I do.
I started her on the correct protocol to follow with her Colt Huntsman that her dad bought for her. She even practiced being an R.O.
Later that day she decided she wanted to try a Kahr pistol. So she shot her grand mother's K9.
K9s are such a perfect fit to any hand.
Next week I'll try her on my S&W 342 TI
    Just kidding.

In memory of great-grammy; never understood a word she yelled in polish, but we all knew what she meant.

Way cool. She just the right size to start learning, too. In a few years that will be my granddaughter.

Thanks. And you'll love the time spent with her.

For grins my son takes her to go buy primers and .22 ammo. He hands her the product and the money to pay for it at the check out and then he stands back.
I hear the confused looks from some of the clerks is really funny.

They also have a rehearsed dialogue that they say in stores as they go shopping.
        It goes something like this:

Dad: "No you're to young, they won't give you a C.C. permit"
Grand daughter: "But I don't need a permit to open carry"

          Start them young!!!!!

I wish I would have had the opportunity to start shooting at that age.

Our Sons boys are 2 and 4 and you know they'll be shooting in a few years. Their Dad is
          a DNR LEO!!!

I wish all families introduced their kids to guns and shooting. America would be a better
          place if they did!

I wondered what she was doing in that last photo, I thought shot timer but couldn't tell for sure.

              That is really cool.

and if things go as planned, they get better as they get older. I bought my grandson his first BB gun when he was around 7, then a Rossi 22/410 combo around 10, then a Marlin .30-30 at 16...... he has already "staked his claim" to almost every one of my guns (but he knows I'm trying to wear them out before I'm gone). He had a weekend off work and asked to spend it here .... actually at the range ... and I was more than pleased. I had plenty of .38, .357mag, 9mm, .44mag and .30-30 loaded up but unfortunately not enough .45 bullets to make it worth a load session .... I did have him load 20 rounds of .44 mag Friday night to test in the lever gun. The good thing is that he is a pretty good shooter from the bench, and now at 20 years old he can handle a bit more buttstock abuse than I can .... my shoulder hasn't quite recovered from the 40 round and 20 round magnum load evaluations I ran through the chrony last week. He ate it up, and I was more than glad to furnish (most of) the guns and all the (handloaded) ammo except for 10 rounds of Win .30-30 he wanted to put on paper with his Marlin.

                Yep, grandkids can be great

That's pretty cool! Always great to see our youth growing up learning to shoot.
