  • I just hit the big 50!

Aside from putting off the soon to come head to toe physical to make sure everything is in somewhat working order, I got my AARP invite.

I remember a thread a while back about the evils of AARP but there seems to be some good things about joining. Just want to get our "experienced" members advice on whether I should join or not.

Welcome the the '50s, the years when your physical body begins to betray you... Or perhaps it's repayment for the neglect of your misspent youth.

I've decided 50 ain't nothing. It will be 51 and one month for me tomorrow. I walked 4 miles today and mowed 1/2 acre yard in 90 degree heat Tuesday with a push mower no problem.

I have to go for that poke and prod physical myself soon. I missed it last year some how.

Message to AARP and AMAC: I'M NOT OLD OR RETIRED SO QUIT SENDING ME THAT INFO!!!
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I would have said the same thing four and a half years ago.

Ummmm... Been there, done that and yes I have the tee shirt.

            Happy happy on the B-day.

The aches and pains that will wake you in the morning will soon make you smile...
First you groan, then you chuckle, "still on the right side of the dirt...".
I was once asked if I was "a paranoid for carrying my Kahr".
            "Nope" I said, "just prepared".
" prepared for what" he asked?
            "more stuff than you are"
            God Bless our Troups!

I wouldn't give the bastards a penny. Helped get the current useless POTUS elected, and campaigned and wanted the Unaffordable Health Care Act.

I was in the AARP until I found out they fully backed Ovomitcare and are very left wing. Check out their CEO (Barry Rand). One of Ovomit's buddies from the '"good old days". Joined the AMAC and never looked back.

Absolutely, positively, screw AARP. Not only did they support Obama and his care, but they are anti-gun as well.

I was also a member of AARP. Then they came out supporting Obamacare. Cancelled my membership same day.

I am old enough to receive their crap too. I told them to take me off the list--worked too.

Congrats on reaching 50. The years really start flying by as you get older!

I joined AMAC as soon as they came into existence. I bailed on AARP at least 15 years ago. They have their own agenda and and aren't conservative at all. I still let them send all of their crap junk mail, though. That costs them money.

Happy Birthday AJ!!!.....I'm 56 and work with several guys my age and we all agree that something happens to the body as soon as the odometer hits 50 so now is the time to really start taking care of yourself and stay on top of your health and if necessary to make the lifestyle and diet changes most of us should have made many years ago....

I'm still working on the lifestyle and diet changes but what the hey....
