My IP address keeps getting banned

    My IP address keeps getting banned

    Let me type this out before it happens again, a few months back I attempted to log in to one of my favorite forums only to get a message that my IP address had been banned, I have never broken a rule or even been warned, does anyone know what's up.

    I was able to get onto the site yesterday after being banned for a few months, then today I attempted to login and it said banned again , now, I figured I'd give it another try and low and behold I am in banned again, I have sent 3 messages to admin and have not heard back, if you don't hear from me in a while it's because I'm banned again.....

    The IP addresses assigned to you by your ISP fall within a range of IP addresses which have been blocked in an attempt to ban an offensive user. Occasionally your ISP assigns you an IP which falls outside the blocked range, and you are able to authenticate. It's hit or miss.

    The offensive user likely subscribed to the same ISP you are using, and was assigned an IP address very close to the address assigned to your computer. When KarhTalk blocked that range of IP addresses, it effectively bans anyone who is assigned an IP within the blocked range.

    If KahrTalk won't unblock the range, your options are limited since you can't control the IP assigned to you by your ISP. You could change ISP and use a different provider. The new provider will have a different range of IP addresses. Of course, if you are purchasing bundled services, changing providers may be complicated.

    Another option may be to access this site via a proxy server. That practice is not without risks, so I can't give it a strong endorsement.

      When was a site admin, we'd get hammered from mostly China, and then some jerks at universities in the USA, then assorted crap from east block Europe. Unfortunately.... there are some shared pools of addresses.

          Call your provider. They usually can change your IP address in a minute or two. You may have to fiddle a bit with your WiFi modem but I have done this a time or two when changing computers.

            I'll make sure Justin and Johnh know about this. They have some magical powers that can tell what's going on.

            Just went thru this with MikeyKahr. Everyone remember MikeyKahr the fella that's been awol for 6 months?

              Thanks guys, I mainly get online of my iPhone 4 , the wife base SOLE control over the lap top we have so I'm sol. It's really been annoying because this is my favorite gun site.

                This is about the only gun site. (Except for the 1911 forum that has some really nice pictures)
                The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

                Want to see what will be the end of our country as we know it???

                      Yeah I've posted a total of 3 post there in 3 years. Not as friendly as here and the admins here are better. I only post questions here too cause the answers work.

                      Still like their picture threads though

                        I got banned from there after reporting a poster that was being a jerk to the mods..Granted I had told the guy he was being an ass, but none of my comments were out of line.

                        I do still read there on occasion when looking for specific info on something, but over all M1911.org is a better site anyway.

                          some of these utter gun forums are dictator forum,s stray the slightest and ur gone. I have never been able to even get accepted on the glock forum. Tried a dozen times, they never answer a request a sto why, just nuttin.

                          so fokk um. u have to be a real dick to get banned from kahr, if that means anything. its the best forum around. but I do think every once in awhile a PLANT come son board just to stir, and he doesn't last long. Our mods are pretty sharp

                            I got on gt pretty quickly and my only real reason for joining was at the time they had one of the best classified sections of any of the forums and while I do own a G36 (and have considered the 19 once or thrice) I'm not a Glock guy at all, and I've thought about getting rid of the 36 a few times.

                              I've never had any problems at the 1911 forum although I don't post there often. However, I'm banned for life at GT - no real loss.
