Coming soon to your home town 1984

    http://www.ajc.com/news/news/big-bro...tcorner/ngk8j/

This bothers me and I wonder how you folks feel about camera surveillance everywhere you go....Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was bragging about being able to watch you and know where you are and what you are up to 85% of the time between street cameras, cell phone and vehicle license plate tracking....There seems to be two opposite ways people think about the subject, 1. If you're not doing anything wrong you shouldn't worry about the Government watching your every move while in public.... 2. It's none of their damn business (this is my view)....I thing Big Brother is getting too big and intrusive into peoples lives and with the above technology combined with facial recognition and your online buying habits it's almost like your every move in life is being controlled and can be predicted....

IMHO it seems that the places with the most camera surveillance such as London and most of the UK are the most Socialist, left wing "Big Government" leaning places on the planet and value Government Control much more so than Freedom of the People....

Whats next? an algorithnm that will predict that you may commit a crime in the future because of where you go and who you hang out with? Scary stuff....

    What do you think?

yup. the government has already decided that you have no right to privacy when you are in public places.

      What do you think?
I think that England, despite its stupid gun restrictions, is very far from being the most socialist left wing big government place on the planet. Those places tend to be the most backward and failed. If you want places where the governing entities control every aspect of life, look at various Islamic states, like the Sudan, or simple "brutalitarian" states like North Korea, etc.

Big picture, I don't worry about technology. Ultimately a society which uses technology to suppress freedom is self defeating, though it can go on a long time if it steals tech from free societies like the old Soviet Union. China is trying to have it both ways currently, with the resulting contradictions becoming steadily more obvious. Eventually they'll have to choose more freedom and technical advancement or more control and regression. So will the rest of us.
      Rest in peace Muggsy

The gubmint always thinks that they know what is best for the common folk. I think that it's an overreach, and a waste of money in many circumstances. If you can shimmy up poles and change flags on the Brooklyn bridge, what good does the surveillance do, if it doesn't stop the crime. At best, they catch the perpetrator part of the time, most the time, they get grainy pics, or whomever is watching the screen, is snoring away....................the surveillance is going too far. I do not own, nor will I ever, a cell phone. It's the longest leash you will ever have.

Im glad I dont live in Atlanta anymore.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I doubt that it is that easy. After all, if it was, there would be very few wanted posters with mug shots at the post office or police asking for help finding this guy or that guy. While your paranoia is rooted in fact, you MIGHT be reaching a bit. Only my opinion.

I think that cameras are a good crime fighting tool and crime solving tool. I'm not into crime except for occasionally stealing a kiss, so the cameras don't really bother me. Don't live in the big city and the cameras won't be a problem for you guys either. I have nothing to hide but my hide itself. Hey, that's a pretty catchy phrase. It may go don't in history as one of my greatest quotes.

I love mouseturds on an onion samich. That OM bologna stuff is disgusting, though.

Fried bologna, three slices, on wheat with mayo and nuthin' else.

Heck, I like fried Spam sammiches, but with ketchup too.
