  • P380 frame shavings

Question to fellow Kahr owners with more experience than me.
P380 has over 300 rounds with no malfunctions with multiple ammo.
However, concerning me is that plastic shavings running the lenght of frame on both sides.
is this normal? Will it stop soon? Metal rails seem fine and no burrs on slide.
Every time I shoot plastic shavings curl out and when I break it down scrape out shavings the lenght of the frame.
will try and post photos tonight when kids go to bed.
    Thank You

Yes. Yes. The metal rails often have unnecessary plastic covering them. Kahr lets the purchaser "wear off the plastic" during shooting. On the plus side , no need to polish any metal. Glad you are having a good experience. My CW380, CM9, and CW45 have given me no problems after break-in of < 100 rounds.

It used to be the frames didn't shave at all, but with new fashions, especially swimwear, they've begun to shave in the most intimate of spots.

You can remove the "hanging chads" or leave them, and eventually with use they'll go away. You're seeing what amounts to excess polymer being finely removed by the rest of the mechanism. Once there is clearance, no more shavings.

the ction of the slide will remove the shaving that don't need to be there. The gun is working fine according to your report. IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT. Let the gun do the actual final fitting...What the above guys said is gospel to...
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Thank you everyone. I'm feeling better.
Gun has functioned well. "nock on wood"
Looking forward to more range time.
            thanks

Its good to hear it's running good for you. Like everyone has said fear not and shoot it like you stole it.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.
