  • Another reason to stay armed

This happened last Sunday in a nice quiet upscale neighborhood here in Atlanta....The Police say 2 young black males came to the victims front door asking to borrow a car jack and then forced their way into the house and then as many as 8 other black males as young as 13 years old that were hiding in nearby woods also stormed Mike and Whitney Lash's home as they returned from a vacaton....They shot Mike in both legs and shot at Whitney as she ran away with their baby in her arms....All they took was the couples cell phones...Police think it may have been part of a gang initiation and no arrests have been made so these thugs are still on the street....

Mike was about to start a new job this week so the couple is without medical insurance...At the bottom of the following article there is a link to the Go Fund Me web site where if you are so inclined you may send in a donation to help them get through this....I sent a few bucks because this could have happened to me but if it had there would have been a few less punks walking around because I'm ALWAYS armed....

It's a crazy dangerous world we live in today.....Very sad

But we are told having a gun for self defense will just endanger family members, and if dad had fired back at the thugs he undoubtedly would've mowed down his wife & baby instead.

I'm going back to my double mag pouch myself. Been getting lax lately. Cut the grass a couple weeks ago and realized I was nekkid as the proverbial jay bird. Why a damn kid with a blow gun could have taken me out with no fear of repercussion.

        Eight perps...

And the antis want to limit mag capacity? It's obvious whose side they're on.

It's unfortunate but some people have to learn the hard way. Just another case of people not being aware, and not being armed......................2 things that will get you every time.....................................

Only two in the beginning, then 8, my EDC is a Dan Wesson CCO, so 7+1 to start. I am only marginally adequate.

Be a real challenge, if my wife and granddaughter were involved I'd want to get as many as I could ya know.

                  Crap, I'm adding a 3rd magazine.

Beardog, you make triple mag pouches?

Just today, after I got home from work and was changing into my home clothes, my dog lit up a stranger at the front door. I was glad to take a moment to get my PM9 from the safe and put it on before I went downstairs to see what was up. It was a lawn guy I had spoken to a couple weeks ago who was following up on the job we had discussed him doing to trim my landscape. All was fine, big smiles all around.

Still ... I was glad I was ready.

^^^ There's a lot to be said for the big dog advance warning system. Some of our friends complain because our dogs bark a lot when they arrive. Truth is...I've trained 'em to do that.

                      Stay safe friends.

Yeah, I think that 5 or 6 rounds would have been enough. Two each for the first two thugs and the rest would be GONE.

Having said that, my only pistol with more than an eight round mag is my HDW, an HK USP 40, with 14 in the mag. It's the gun I would have had behind my back when I answered the door.

Why answer the door? I peek outside and if I don't know the person I let 'em stand there till they get bored.

My home defense weapon is now a Glock 19 with either a 15 round mag or a 33 round mag loaded. And one of my other 33 rounders is always in a nightstand drawer loaded with HSTs. So I'm good to go with 82 rounds at the ready if any home invaders come my way.

I have a USP 40 also, same as yours, although one of the first sold in the U.S., back when they had standard rifling and non captured recoil springs. It was my home defense gun up until just recently when I decided to try and consolidate my ammo calibers to save money and make things easier now that we have equally high performing 9mm ammo available. The USP has been a rock solid performer over the years (22), and Streamlight even makes a TLR 4 laser/light that attaches directly without need for the rail adapter (finally).
