Truck made it to a milestone

The ole Tundra made it to 100k today. How many miles has your truck (current or previous truck) made it to? I gotta get some new tires now.

For what it's worth, it looks like you take good care of your truck. Exactly the kind of used truck I look for when I'm shopping which sadly isn't very often.
I'm probably due not far in the future. Really hoping for a 4x4 full size van next time but probably won't happen.

And talk about multi tasking, taking a picture of your instrument cluster while driving 50 mph and getting it exactly at 100,000 on the dot. You sir are a better man than I.

I thought I was good smoking, drinking coffee and reading directions, then I had to do all that without my feet, challenging. Gave up the smoking but still manage the rest.

I was waiting on someone to catch the speedometer. Actually the picture was easy. It was about 9pm on a long straight road with no traffic. I just put the phone on the steering wheel and took about 5 pictures. I would have pulled over but there wasn't a shoulder on the side of the road. Only thing I could have hit was a deer but that would have filled up the freezer i guess.

I do all the mechanical maintenance myself. It has sat outside for about 10 years. Ive had it about 7 of those years. It gets washed about 5 times a year. I wash, clay bar, and wax it every spring. Then keep pollen washed off it till about july, then let the dust collect and protect the paint until the next spring when i repeat the process. If I offroad I'll give it an extra washing to get the mud off if required. I did wash it last weekend because the weather was nice. Every now and then I'll touch up a chip in the paint as i find one.

Oh, and the best thing was i was driving on $1.59 a gal. gasoline.

I Don't own a truck but had a 2005 Toyota rav 4.. had over 170, 000 miles on it and then gave it to my dtr and bought a jeep. The rav has over 250,000 miles on it now and still going strong.

Standard oil is just as good if you change it regularly. I've never used synthetic oil in my vehicles.

As long as you use synthetic oil you should have no problem going well over 100,000.

I remember taking a picture of the odometer on my 2000 Chev Blazer at 100,000 miles. Of course, that was a few years ago and over 150,000 miles ago. Bought the thing brand new and have only used conventional oil since the very first of many, many oil changes over the years. Dang engine keeps going along! My plan from the day I bought it was to put a V8 in it when the engine finally died. The wife won't let me do it until the engine dies.

If properly maintained, there's no reason any modern car or truck shouldn't do 200K w/o major problems.

Currently my three cars are low mileage, but I have driven a 89 and 94 Astro van to over 170K miles, a 98 Blazer to 150K, and an 02 Santa Fe to 120K with few issues.

I agree! Ford, GM, Mercedes, and BMW all specify synthetic. Ford, GM, and Mecedes recommend Mobile One and BMW Castrol or Shell.

I'm a synthetic oil psycho. Read piles of literature on the oil. Really is superior in every way compared to conventional oil. I put it in everything, cars, trucks, lawn mowers, 1955 Ford tractor. Need conventional only for new engine break-in, synthetic is too slippery for that.

Funny, my 2000 Chevy Blazer owners manual makes no mention of using synthetic oil, just lists the weight of the oil you should use. I have used synthetic only in the 2006 Monte Carlo and the 1998 Camaro SS, though. The 1990 C1500 I had went over 300,000 miles and only used conventional in it.

I've found unscientificly that conventional oil is good at clogging leaks on worn seals when used from day one. Put synthetic in an engine that always used convensional that has 100k plus miles and watch it start leaking. (Dont ask me how i know this but it has happened twice to me.)

I have a camry that I bought with 104k on it that always had used conventional oil and that's all I'll run in it and its up to 145k now. Everything else runs Mobil 1.

My story tells me don't switch back and forth, just stick to one or the other.
